I have had my Dillon range bag for probably 20 years. I noticed a hole in the bottom of it the other day. It won’t be long and I will need a new one. The one thing I will not do is buy another black range bag. It’s impossible to find anything because it’s so dark. What do you like that isn’t a black hole?

Depends what you're carrying?

I just use a backpack (daypack, not 3 day) with 2 sections (laptop section for targets; larger section of all else). Carries 2 pistols, 600 rounds (fits easily, not that I bring 600 rounds), targets, earpro, mags, brass container.

For me, shoulder carry is easier than handcarry.

Is 18 x 14 x 10 large enough? I have this one: https://www.basspro.com/p/cabelas-1800-range-bag It has lots of pockets and compartments to hold things and has been satisfactory. Mine is black because it was what the store had, but it also comes in baby poop coyote brown with green straps.

A couple of years ago I picked up a Savior Specialist Range Bag, got the OD green one. I like it a lot. (It replaced the 5.11 range bag that I had for the previous 15+ years.)

Although products change over the years, this forum has provided many threads of recommendations on range bags that are still valid.

Midway is a consensus go to.

The 5.11 bag in coyote brown works well.

Nearly every purveyor touts their mil-spec incredible toughness. I see little differences.

I have a Midway bag I bought years ago, and it is still an excellent bag. But whatever you do, get a bag that is dedicated to the range, and not for other uses (like a backpack). Let's just say there are guys who regret using a backpack for the range when they have it inspected at the airport.

Turks and Caicos can take a flying leap. You couldn’t pay me to go there after hearing about what they did to some of our members. Yes, it will be a dedicated range bag, but thanks for the reminder oddball.

Stop buying crap that is made in China.

All of the recommendations on this thread match that.

There are several manufacturers in the US that make an incredible product:

I have, and still use occasionally, a Midway bag like the one linked above. Some years ago I replaced it for regular use with a wheeled bag like this one. This was after falling trying to lug my bag to the firing line. If you are starting to feel your age, I'd recommend considering this option.

I appreciate the sentiment, truly. Where possible, I agree, buy American.

However, the economic reality is that most people can't afford to buy exclusively American made. WRB doesn't have anything in the size of the Midway bag, and the similar sized Lynx bag costs $485 to the Midway's $40. The Lynx might well be a better bag, but a 10X premium is awfully high.

I had the same issue as far as weight.
I seemed to always be climbing stairs to a upstairs range or a basement range.

I bought a folding, light weight, two wheeler made for luggage.

Minus the internal compartments, for the longest time I used an "overnight bag" from Samsonite as a range bag as well as its original purpose as light luggage.

I've used these for years. I've killed two of the Olive Drab ones, but the Black seems to be durable.

Mine live in hot, humid conditions, and never see air conditioning, and get a LOT of UV exposure. As such, they last about 10 years or so before they start to give up the ghost.

At $40 per, when the two I am using now quit, I'll probably buy another.

I like the LowePro camera bag idea; but it only holds a couple of pistols.
Nevertheless, given the increasing difficulty lugging around a big range bag + not announcing you have guns is attractive

For overall cost/value, tool bags (Home Depot, Lowes, etc) are a good option to consider.
