It seems unusual but is not surprising. Raccoons are opportunistic omnivores and will eat anything they can get their paws around. They can really tear up or even kill dogs sent hunting them, too.

You usually only see Raccoons active during the day if they have rabies.

Raccoons are vicious little animals and tough......Possums are even tougher and darn near impossible to kill.

Some people eat them. They’re “the other dark meat”. The hides used to bring a little money. I don’t know if that’s still the case.

I had a protracted campaign against trash pandas over a period of several years. They love to kill and eat chickens. In fact, if they can’t kill them, they’re fine with eating a wing or leg off through the mesh of the chicken coop. They also like to tear up the rubber seals around my roof vents.

They can be quite a nuisance.
