I've scanned thru it a couple times & don't know quite what to make of it.

I skimmed it, seems like it’s reporting the news as opposed to an editorial. It lists the stats and has comments from a number of sources about possible causes and contributing factors. Less LE officers, fewer arrests, stress of Covid economic factors etc.

I think the article's just laying out what it perceives as the facts.

Here's a question. What do all the cities named in the article have in common? Smile

I don't know what to make of it. At first, I thought his point is that gun control laws work being that California isn't on the list while AZ and TX is prominent but I see New York listed.

Any report about annual homicides where Chicago's 739 homicides (which leads the nation) but doesn't make the list just because it's still under the 1970 record of 974 homicides is skewed.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I've read a number of iterations of the same article. They all fail to mention the root cause. Democrat/progressive policies:
BLM/Antifa, defund the police, revolving doors at the jailhouse, lack of enforcement of gun laws (or any laws for that matter), activist DAs, and diversion programs.

Even though anyone can parse statistics to their favor if the gist is that crime is up?
It is and we all already know why. Frown
It's kind of like preaching to the choir here for all of us as we already know the score.
Perhaps it will get through the rest of the uneducated.

Exactly. That' what all these cities have in common.
