My fondest memories of the Carter years centered around spending every other lunch hour waiting in line for gas. The rule was odd or even plate number days where I was "allowed" to get 10 gallons every other day. I worked across the street from an Arco station. I had to turn right pulling out of work then do a u-turn to get in line. It took almost the whole hour idling and creeping with a 4 speed Trans Am watching the gas gauge drop. Good times.

Several times I was forced to fill my Honda 360T (motorcycles were exempt) repeatedly and drain the tank into my wifes' VW bug. Around a 10 gallon tank if I remember correctly. Due to the usual CF around the pumps I could usually find an unused one inaccessible to cars and get the 2.5 gallon tank filled without waiting in line. Thanks for the memories, Jimmy.

Fortunately I was stationed in WEST Germany during the Carter Gas Crisis.
