So after losing 60 pounds, I fell asleep without my CPAP on last night. Normally, my wife lets me know within 10 seconds of me falling asleep. I slept all night last night without my mask on and she never noticed.

That's the first time in 18 years that that's happened. The only thing I felt different was waking up with a dry mouth. My son will sure appreciate this when we go camping.

Tony.

Loose 60# loose sleep apnea win, win. Congratulations!
Probably not related but when I gained weight I started snoring which stopped when I lost it.

I would still get checked to make sure you aren't having any apnea events. Just because you aren't snoring anymore like you used to may not necessarily mean you aren't still stopping breathing at night while sleeping.

Same thing happened with me. Haven’t used my CPAP in three years. “The Warden” says that I don’t snore anymore. This is enough sleep study for me.

I'm down 50 lbs and my apnea is not gone, but much better. If I fall asleep without my mask i may or may not start snoring as opposed to starting before i hit the pillow. I've also dropped my pressure from 16 down to 8.

I hope to see continued improvement as I lose more weight.

Yep, lost 30 lbs after getting off Prednisone. Normal number of events per hour, so no more apnea. Gave away the CPAP.

Great to hear and good for you.

I need to lose 70 pounds. I finally got serious a couple of weeks ago and have been walking and/or working out every day. I'm down 11 pounds in 2 weeks.

One of the benefits I would love to see when I reach my goal is to lose the CPAP machine. I'm so used to sleeping with it, it would be a big adjustment, but one I look forward to.

If I could give any advice, I'd say the proper diet is more valuable than the best workouts. I don't really exercise. I just keep my steps above 9,000 steps a day and I eat no carbs. I've cut starches and sugars completely out of my diet and eat only proteins and fats. I don't eat sugary fruits and I don't eat potatoes or any vegetable with starches.

I also restrict my eating window to 6 hours of the day.

I cut out as many processed foods as possible.

Thanks Tony, I'm doing a lot of the same things.

Doing 10,000+ steps each day and working out 2-3 a week.

Diet is heavy on protein and "good" fats; almost no processed foods; I cut out alcohol and am drinking lots of water and elctrolyte drinks.

It's a little frustrating that I'm not making quicker progress, but my doc says that taking off the weight this way is better because it's likely to stay off.
