Find homeless dude at a shelter or community kitchen. He has to have an ID. Tell him you’ll give him $100 for every check he cashed. Buy him some decent clothes at Goodwill.

Make checks out in random amounts from $4500 to just shy of $5000. Go bank to bank and cash the washer checks that have been made out to homeless guy.
Do banks cash checks for anyone who simply walk in with one and an ID?

As a person who deals with thousands of checks a year in my escrow business, I can assure you that writing checks and mailing them is a surefire way to end up with a major problem.

Make every payment electronically if you can!

If I can't avoid writing a check, I'll write it with a pen that I think will give someone a harder time washing. Uni-ball Pen

During Covid my wife mailed a check to our church every week. It was stolen from the church's outdoor mailbox and deposited in a Missouri bank (not our bank).

The MO bank discovered the fraud and called me. I asked them how someone could open an account without appearing there in person with a picture ID and Social Security #. Apparantly banking rules were changed during Covid so accounts could be opened remotely. Then its easy to use fake or stolen docs.

I reported it to our local Police and they caught the thief! MO bank replaced te money so all was good. And the Church immediately set up an online giving system.
