Just replaced an halogen light stick with a new, to me, LED one. When I turn it on it lights but when I turn it off it still glows I'm no Edison but it doesn't feel right. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

Some fixtures or circuits have a low voltage constant current that goes though (even when the light switch is off). That is not enough to light a traditional bulb, but can be enough to light up a LED. Is there a timer, dimmer, or three way switch on this circuit? I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

This is likely the cause. Besides dimmer or timer it can also be a lighted switch. The ones that have a small light to find the switch in the dark bleed through voltage. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

Yup, you need a real switch. The one you have is leaking. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

I put an LED in the overhead light in my Tacoma. It stays dimly lit all the time too.

This happened to me about 8 years ago when I put an Led bulb fed by a lighted 3 way switch. Freaked me out at first. _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." Mark Twain

I have a garage switch with a motion sensor switch that does this to the two fluorescent T-8 fixtures. I have to turn off the “auto” switch or the fixtures glow. Is it ok to let them “glow” or should I continue to keep the switch in “off”. So there is no glow. If it’s ok for the glow I would love to keep it in auto so lights come on when we enter garage. ^^^^^ I'm not an electrician, but I'd worry about real fluorescent lights staying in "glow" mode. My recollection about them is that it should only happen during the short interval before the lamp fully lights up--it may be detrimental to the life of the bulb if it stays glowing. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

This happened to me in my house that still has some K-T wiring with non-discrete commons. I fixed it by running a discrete common back to the panel. It was a little freaky until I figured it out. The light was still on, even though the breaker was open. Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus
