White House just SUSPENDED Major Tech Companies ability to use the PERM program
Effective immediately the Trump administration has hereby SUSPENDED ADOBE, MICROSOFT, Cognizant, Tata, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, and Capgemini from the Permanent Labor Certification Program

Since 2009, just these companies alone have requested almost 3 million foreign workers. They've received over 230,000 H1B visas approvals and over 100,000 permanent labor certifications."

"That's hundreds of thousands of jobs that were taken from American workers!"

Without PERM, they can't sponsor foreign workers for green cards. The path to keep them here for good is SHUT!

Long overdue! American jobs for American workers who produce the American products that American consumers buy with American dollars.

Surprised, and pleased, that Apple wasn’t in that list.

Good!

There is a whole corrupt industry based on H1B Visa US job stealing.

Much like the Somali gig, this is a different hustle against the silent white collar US victim.

Long overdue and likely too narrow.

Next step review and send home those here already.

US citizenship is a blessing and precious gift.

There's a lot of business names missing from that list.

Yup, pretty sure this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I had a naturalized citizen coworker. His wife worked at a college in North Carolina. She was the only American in her work circle.
I spent time in an office building used by Humana. Bus loads of foreign workers came in everyday to toil in the cubicle farms. Apparently no American was qualified to answer the phone or make data entries.

"Consulting" companies that supply contract workers make obscene profits, abusing H1B visas.

Anderson Consulting, part of the Arthur Anderson conglomerate, replaced hundreds of American software developers at BellSouth with less qualified but more profitable H1B workers. Predictably, software quality declined.

I hope this extends to call centers for customer service where maybe we can now understand who answers the phone. Domesticate them and hire Americans.

I have watched it over and over in the tech world.

Fire Americans and hire cheap immigrants or shift it offshore.

They should force companies that do business with the U.S. government to keep everything on US soil.

Yes this is a pet peeve of mine considering the amount of daily interaction with call centers, in the past 2 years we've seen a massive shift from USA based employees, home or in a center, to foreign call centers. The idea is to remove the financial incentive to fire US employees and replace with cheaper labor

Here's an idea, lets tax companies on all H1B visa employee replacements of US employees, as well as per position for moving call centers overseas an amount equal to the difference in pay for the US employee they terminate and the replacement cost overseas and it must fund into the unemployment tax base in the state.

This gives the state more money to help those displaced by the company, of course you'd have to earmark the funds for that and politicians will spend it elsewhere but, the company wouldn't see a financial gain through payroll reductions.

Companies that move jobs out of the country must pay the amount of taxes, payroll, SSI, disability equal to the amount that would have been paid to the dismissed employee to the Feds and States where the employee was terminated.

So there is no financial incentive to move the job overseas from a payroll perspective. Would politicians screw it up and encourage overseas jobs, some would, but it would not give them any more money than they got if the jobs stayed.
