Pretty sure that A10 picture is from a training exercise a few years ago where they landed planes on M-32 in Northern Michigan.

^^^That is the story. It’s M-32 close to Alpena as part of 2021’s Northern Strike. Video of A-10 landing on M-32 They did the same thing on M-28 in the UP in 2022.

We see A-10s and other military aircraft flying along the lake every year and I can’t help but feel a sense of national pride every-time.

Yup, A-10s from my former unit, 127th Wing at Selfridge ANGB. In my time, we flew A-7D.

A couple of years ago, I learned that Elmer Bigelow, a Medal of Honor recipient, was buried in a small cemetery in rural northern Illinois. We've made a point of visiting his grave every Memorial Day to pay our respects. A couple of years ago, I happened to be there when some of his family members were there and got to meet some great folks.
