mike28wRecomendations for balanced news streaming ??
Hello,
I'm brainstorming or at least trying to brainstorm... I'm retired, live in a very rural area. (limited radio reception). I really enjoy listening to the radio for news with my breakfast and coffee.
It recently occurred to me that I might be able to stream (if that even the correct term) a good, balanced news station with my smartphone. I don't want far right or far left. Just something down the middle that won't irritate me like NPR does.
I don't have the patience or interest in sitting in front of my computer. I just want something that will give me the general news like a radio program does.
But, I don't even know where to look. I would very much appreciate any suggestions or opinions.....
Thanks ! mike

chellim1I hope to be proven wrong... but I doubt that what you're looking for exists.
As Rush used to say, unless you intend to stay to the right, you will drift to the left. That's what the culture and government will encourage.

murphmanDownload the Haystack app. Then you can select the areas of interest you care about, and select from a number of broadcast video channels - everything from local to international.
I picked a couple of local stations for local news plus a variety of regular and cable/streaming networks, in order to avoid echo chambers and get balanced reporting.
You will get a continuous feed of reporting from the networks and channels you chose, concerning the topics you chose. Almost no opinion pieces - just raw reporting.
Hint: Try some sources that you normally would not consider. You might find yourself surprised at just how balanced your news can become, and see your horizons broadened.
