We bought a Dewalt DCL043 light about three years ago. EVERYone that has seen it in use buys one.
I am many $$$ deep into Dewalt products and this is one of my very best purchases.
It is very rugged and throws an insane amount of light.

On the high-value end of the flashlight preferences, I'm a fan of Streamlight and O-light.

This is my daily carry. Love the work light option. This has been such a great light, I now give them as presents to my buddies and co-workers for things like secret Santa and birthday celebrations

If theres still time I have and like Nitecores EDC 27. I'd check out some of their new ones but they recharge off a USBc which are everywhere and have some smart features like lockouts and more beams than you know what to do with but a very handy all the lumens right now button too. They arent a rifle light which you arent looking for, but they have a good balance of hotspot and flood and post lumens and candela on their website.

I used to be a Surefire snob, but in the last five years or so, I have given Fenix the nod.

Only drawback is price: $55 on Amazon.

I second the Baton4, was looking recently and talking to a guy at work about it and he said he loves his Baton 3. I think I paid $49 at lapolicegear.com site.

I just got the baton4 charger today from olight, $39 from olight. It acts as a portable charger through usb-c port a d will recharge the baton4 up to five times from dead battery.

A bit above the initial price range mentioned but I'm really happy with it.

I have wowed a lot of people with my Fenex lights. Including linemen during storm repairs.
Bright, long lasting, rechargeable. But, if it’s in your pocket and somehow gets bumped on, your leg will warm up!

I've got an OLight i5T EOS in my pocket now. My EDC for the past few years.
Lost my first one on a flight. Clip got snagged on the seatbelt & didn't notice it was gone until we got to bag claim.
I think I was carrying that one bulb down [which also resulted in it being on in my pocket a few times]. Now carry bulb up & haven't had a problem [light on nor snagging & being pulled out].

Might look at an i3T for a smaller pkg when I want to go slimmer.
Grabbed my wife's LC9 last night when we went to our daughter's Lacrosse practice & the slimmer size was nice compared to my P320C EDC.

I'd like to move up to something more dependable, same size class, rechargeable would be nice, decent power. Don't need uber-tactical Operator equipment with eye-frying lumen rating and multiple modes. On and Off, throw enough of a beam to walk around in the dark, light things up under the hood.

Like to keep prices under $50, less would be good.

I have been carrying and using the Surefire Titan models aaa batteries by Eneloop. I have several of them and have found them excellent. They are twistys so if that’s not your bag might go another route. May be able to find one close to that price especially if you go wholesale or slightly used. The Olight aaa has been dependable too. I sleep in shorts and keep one in my shorts for trips to the restroom or check out bumps in the night. Stream light is quite a deal also.

In addition to the standard AAA battery, the i3T can also use the ICR10440 battery, which has a ~3.7 volt output as opposed to the ~1.5 volt output of the AAA.

The i3T using the 10440 battery has a shorter runtime but is substantially brighter. I use an i3T with a 10440 for quick night time trips outside of my house.

The 10440 battery also works in my Olight i3E keychain lights, although the 10440 battery is a half millimeter shorter than the AAA, so you have to screw the head of the i3E all the way down tight to get it to activate in the i3E, and in some i3E flashlights, this battery won't work due to varying manufacturing tolerances. In all three of my i3Ts, these batteries work.

I bought a pack of ten 10440 batteries off Amazon for 20 bucks and these batteries can be recharged using myIQ-338XL battery charger.

The 10440 battery in these small flashlights is for short-term use only. A great deal of heat is generated in a short time.

The 10440 battery is what I use in my E3A high CRI flashlight I keep on my key chain. You might be amazed at the amount of light being put out. This flashlight gets so hot when left on for more than a couple of minutes when using the 10440 battery, you can smell the heat. For short-term use, though, such as using the light to look under a car seat or illuminate a lock, they bring the daylight into the dark.

I’m a bit of a flashlight junkie. Accidentally left one of my favorite “affordable” lights behind in Mexico a couple weeks ago so replaced it with my first Wuben.

It is the “E7” and so far I am pretty impressed with it. As “stock” it is small enough to slip in your pocket. Comes with a rechargable 18350 lithium battery, built in charging via USB, and has a magnetic base for $30

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D12NNDY9?

I also got the extended body tube which adapts it to use an 18650 battery for an addition $10

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D6V4T6YB?

Finally, I added the head strap for another $10 so all in was $50 (already had 185650 cells) and it is good for hand carry, clip on, mag attachment under the hood, or head lamp use.

Bought a rechargeable penlight from Harbor Freight. I know most here aren't fans of Chinese products, but it's been good. Click tail cap, 2 settings at 100 and 400ish lumens, focus able lens. <$15 on sale. Probably 3AA batteries tall. I carry in a pencil pocket on carpenter jeans. Braun light

A Perpetual Disappointment...
