I've heard this name many times. I'm sure it's been quoted to me from radio or other sources, and I've always agreed with his message I imagine.

He hits the nail on the head. And not just in this video. In every one I've watched tonight.

DJT referenced him in a recent talk, and he popped up tonight on my radar. I'm really glad I took the time to hear him. I'll be exploring him further. I expect I'll just be reduced to a cheerleader, but he is driving home ideals I am bedrock solid on, but everything around me says I'm wrong for. Not that I need affirmation, but it's a dam welcome sight.

I've been watching his videos for a few years. Maybe someday I will crack one of his books.

VDH has been quoted, referenced, and had his commentaries and articles posted in many forum threads over the last few years.

I may not agree with every single stance he takes, but when I hear him speak or find an opinion piece that he writes I stop to listen or read, and I'm often better informed for it. I haven't made the time to read any of his books but I've caught several interviews with him over the last few years.

One thing for sure, he's got a way with words.

Here is a forum thread about him from 2018:

I love Victor Davis Hanson

Interestingly, he is both an academic and a farmer, which may have helped to keep him grounded.
He worked his way through college working his family's fruit tree farm. These days he commutes to the Hoover Institute one or two days a week, and the rest of the time video conferences in from his farm.

He's very good. Hannity and Carlson have him on as a guest quite often.

VDH is a very bright guy, and is a very good writer. When I used to watch Fox, I liked his guest spots. And he was one the few in his world of think tanks that supported and defended Trump. I'm glad he is one our side.

Hanson has lived in CA all of his life, his family has deep roots in the state; he still lives at the farm his family has owned for over 100 years in the town of Selena, a small farm community outside of Fresno. I have driven through there over 10 years ago, it is literally Mexico, the vast majority (maybe 70%) of the people living there were Mexican, most of them illegal immigrants. In this article written in 2002, 20 years ago, he details the conditions of his town, also detailing the crime that has crossed his property lines. I can only imagine that things are worse for the wear in the years since.

He won't leave his farm and won't leave CA. I find it strange for a guy like Hanson, with his ideology, to still live his life in conditions such as Selma's, and under the iron-fisted rule of CA. In this article that he wrote 10 years ago, he states his reasons why he will stay in CA, feeling that the state could turnaround it's evil ways and return to its former glory from decades ago. I think he is very wrong; in the last 10 years since the article, CA has significantly changed for the worse, and the reasons he states for a comeback have not surfaced, and there is zero evidence that they will in the future.

I find it ironic that here is a man that loves America, liberty and freedom, yet is mired in the complete opposite in his daily life. I guess he has strength in his convictions, but IMO his stance on this is flawed at best. If he chooses to live in Selma, CA, he will have to accept the facts that illegal immigration will not subside, that the politicians will not legislate logically and responsibly. And that CA will NOT return to the years of Reagan.

His course through hillsdale on WWII is a great and concise commentary. I'd highly recommend it.

Oddball, I'm stuck out here in Cal too and I've been all around the Fresno area and northern Cal. There are TONS of good people here. Especially old timers like him who grew up here, I understand why he doesn't leave. Truth is where he is, you can have any guns you want and nobody will do a dam thing about it. Much less anything else.

I'm here as a military wife and needs of the Army. I'm serving time. But I am constantly blown away by how many good people are here. So I don't hold that against him, especially with such deep roots.

My personal opinion from a few different things I've seen, is Trump won Cal. Don't feel like arguing that point, but I suspect it's true.

Every time I go to Bakersfield, I see 30+ trains of cars with flags and honking and stuff. Even now.

Show up to Pismo, or desert dirt bike parties, or anywhere good guys go and you won't find many Biden people. I'm wondering how many Biden people actually left in the world that don't have blue hair. 7? 8?

A day doesn't go by I'm not praying to be set free though. Miss my hardware. The nature here is hard to beat though. Cal has a lot to offer, but it comes at a price, for now. And I don't think VDH has to pay it much anymore. No kids in school, lives in the country, probably needs a wheel barrow to transport his balls around. Big Grin

You can HAVE wheel barrows, you just have to register them. And only wheel barrows on a list that Feinstein came up with in the 70s. No modern day Wheel barrows. Lord help you if you "import" a wheel barrow when you move here. Higher felony than pedo crimes.

I listen to VDH continuously. His lectures are time transcendent. I must listen to each lecture multiple times to fully consume his content. I have marveled at what it must have required to accumulate, assimilate, ponder and be able to interestingly disseminate his knowledge and perspective on the various topics he addresses. He must have been a perspicacious person from his youth. I think he’s indicated as much without declaring it.
