I've got a nephew in the Navy reserves.

They stripped him naked, photographed every inch of his body and told him that if he got one more tattoo, he'd be thrown out of the reserves.

I found it amazing the Navy actually told him that.

Asinine! I am not a fan of tattoos, but what business is it of the Navy reserves if your nephew gets more tattoos on an area of his body that can not be seen with normal clothing?

We had a non-responsive drunk brought in the other night with a nose ring that had 2 big balls on either end. I had the idea of touching the terminals of a 9 volt battery to them to test for responsiveness.

And here I thought that attaching electrodes to someone's balls went out with the KGB!

Tattoos and piercings. So let me get this straight, you voluntarily pay someone (pretty good money in most cases) to have them purposely punch holes in your body. Sorry, I just don't grasp the concept. Spent most of my life actively trying to avoid punching holes in myself.

I’m not reading outrage as much as I’m reading that most people on this thread think mutilating your body permanently and paying for the experience so you can be “unique” is pretty freaking dumb. Just like most fads. Except in this case, you can’t walk away from the fad when you realize how stupid you look.

Tats okay with me although I don't like the "full sleeve" or neck/face tattoos or overly done especially on women.

To the OP's question, nose rings seem stupid. Looks like they have buggers hanging out of their nose, and I think it would have some negative affect on breathing and hygiene.

What's interesting to me is that black people, affecting these nose rings , while decrying the country's history of slavery, are doing their best to resemble slaves.

this made me snicker,

while I have not a single tatt or piercing, I live in a town where damn near everyone does,

I'll admit tho, I don't get the nose rings,
that's got to be irritating , esp with hay fever/sinus/cold issues

I’m betting most have more tattoos than teeth. Seems to be the case around here.

As a friend once said to me, no man has ever looked at a woman and said, “yeah, she’s beautiful, but she’d look much better with a tattoo.”
