As you can see it’s still looking pretty rough but at least it runs. It’s going to need a new subframe. Maybe I’ll make it a bobber. Don’t see many CBR600RR bobbers. Update of sorts. Well....I’m going to need to replace or just chop off the tail. Probably replace since it’s a simple bolt on part. Its tail is functional but tweaked slightly from adventures with its previous owner and if you have OCD about such things like me you would understand such a thing is just not acceptable. It’s going to have to go. Either a new subframe or something custom or maybe bob it (prob too much work due to the exhaust)...I don’t know. A 919/ CB600F/ Hornet style circle headlight should be mounted soon. It’s not going to get much in regards to fairings. Right now I’m tempted to throw on a crash cage some street legal mild off road tires and go adventuring. Just treat it like a scrambler. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

That drivetrain would make an awesome shifter cart! No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Haven’t ever done much off road riding, so my leaning is cafe type of project. I would be inclined to strip it of everything unneeded, cut off everything else that was pretty and hide all the wires. Stripped, light cafe bike. Maybe everything black. Might try the same with a BMW K bike (4 cylinder) if I can find one.

Sounds good! I'll be following your progress just to see how it turns out.

The tank should look a bit better when the plastic crap is reattached to the sides. Modern FI sportbikes have interesting gastanks compared to their carbureted predecessors. Especially the CBRs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

From the looks it was a race or track bike (is it safety wired?) or at least it was someone thinking that way (see stickers). The scotts can go to anything that has an available bracket. Race bodywork is cheap and available if you want to spend the time to do a decent paint job. The subframe is pretty easy to repair (I raced one of these a long time ago). “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

Reminds me of that old burger commercial. Where's the meat?. But there is a motorcycle in there somewhere! Enjoy the project!

I could definitely have it ready to go racing in an day... I've personally made them look worse than that. The parts that are on it are all designed to crash well and replace easily. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

I had to look it up. A bobber, originally called a 'bob-job' from the 1930s through 1990s, is a style of custom motorcycle. The typical construction includes stripping excess bodywork from a motorcycle; removing the front fender, and shortening the rear fender, which is "bobbed", and all superfluous parts removed to reduce weight.

Get it running, buy a cheap chinese body kit off ebay for a couple hundred bucks, preferably in Repsol colors to capitalize on recent MotoGP success and sell ot for a profit come spring. "If the wind is not against you, it is not blowing."

Almost as Fast as a Speeding Bullet |
A style of design that was originated in the late 50's early 60's in England. Typically it has short handlebars set low, a fuel tank that is usually somewhat elongated and has pads or indentions for gripping with the knees, and a bobbed or occasionally faired tail. The were built for fast rides from cafe to cafe where the riders would hang out. They are all about speed and quickness, not comfort. Like bobbers, most of the extra stuff is taken off since they weren't very powerful to begin with. Here is an original Triumph version And here is a newer custom based off a Honda CB750 This message has been edited.
