Kind of sad story they have been looking for this hiker for over a week. It would have to be very terrifying to get attacked by a cougar. Given what a much smaller house cat can do.

ZIGZAG, Ore. – The Gresham woman who was missing for nearly two weeks was killed by a cougar, officials said Tuesday, marking the first time on record in Oregon that a human was killed by one of the animals in the wild.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed earlier in the day that Diana Bober, 55, was the woman found deceased Monday along the Hunchback Trail in the Mt. Hood National Forest.

Authorities shifted their search to the region after Bober’s vehicle was found parked at the Zigzag Ranger Station over the weekend. They also learned that her backpack was found along the trail, helping them narrow down the search area.

“This is a terrible tragedy, and our sympathy goes out to Diana’s family and friends,” Brian Wolfer, Oregon Dept. of Fish & Wildlife watershed manager, said in a press conference Tuesday afternoon. “All of us at ODFW are thinking of you today.”

Sigh. This is the stuff that worries me. There were signs everywhere on the trail this weekend regarding recent mountain lion sightings.

... so many idiots voted to ban hunting cougars with dogs. The interesting part of that is that now the taxpayer pays for Fish and Wildlife to hire people to kill cougars with dogs. It use to be an income producer to help pay for services that Fish and wildlife provided. They don't sell many cougar licenses now due to the voater enacted ban, the Oregon State Fish and wildlive (ie taxpayer/Government) pays to have them killed. F&W is low on funds (shit management) so they don't hunt cougars as much as they'd like because they don't have the money to do so.

Crazy place. Idiot city folk voters should be banned from making wildlife policy. Period. Othat than that, I've been stalked, if they cull one or 2 of us, so be it. It keeps you on your toes. I knew I was being stalked. She most likely did as well. Hair raising is an accurate description. Read the part how they spent $12,500 to kill 10 cougars in ONE unit. That's small potatoes.

Idiots being idiots

We have them here, in town, in my neighborhood. A neighbor's dog, two houses away was killed by a cougar a couple of years ago. I'
ve never seen it, but it has been spotted many times by neighbors. I've heard it on a number of occasions.

Now we get to hear some "expert" on the news telling us to hold your arms out so you look big and as a last resort, carry bear spray.

Pretty much this. The bunny huggers, tree huggers, USFS, and every other commie "conservation" outfit is responsible for this shit.

Around these parts, bear, wolf, and cat populations have exploded in the past 25 years. It's no coincidence that 25 years ago they began gating off access to the land to "protect wildlife". The cocksuckers don't give a damn about protecting people, but the little furry critters? Oh yeah.

Shoot every single one you see.

Don't worry, they'll also tell you that you shouldn't carry a gun because "you'll never be able to deploy it in time".

It is possible the above could be true but I'd rather have the gun on me because there is always the possibility that I could "deploy it in time".

Both of these happened within 10 miles of my house. I've seen their tracks when I've been out and about.
