I've never heard someone ask what sort of furniture they've got on an M14, or Mini-14, or bolt gun...ya know, traditionally-stocked firearms, where it's one piece.
Actually, I think "furniture" probably was derived from wooden stocks--most furniture is made of wood.
Indeed. Furniture is defined, in part, as:
Wooden mountings, such as on a rifle.Even if we ignore the firearm-specific definition, the word is still being used properly. Furniture can also be defined as:
Necessary equipment; fittings, apparatus, or necessary accessories for something.Traditional hunting rifles may have only one piece of "furniture", but once we get out of the age of black powder, few traditional military rifles have only one piece. They typically have at least two pieces (stock and handguard), with some having three or even four (such as multiple separate handguards, and/or a separate forestock and buttstock).
For example, the venerable M1 Garand has just as many pieces of "furniture" as the AR-15.

Hell, I have Pachmayr grips, but they're on my Ruger Old Army BP revolver. But I DO have a 'tacticool' in-line capper to speed up reloads. Does THAT count?

Furniture on a firearm comes from the English usage of furniture - the wooden parts made to 'furnish' the gun. The term goes back to the mid-17-hundreds, which is as far back as I can trace it here in UK.
Before the Revolution, that is.

Ugh. This has permeated the Mosin-Nagant discussion boards too, which now have mouthbreathers posting about their "Izzys, Sestys, Remmys, etc.".

Correct - but the Point being, for an IR laser to be worth anything, you need BOTH.
Plenty of tacti-dorks with a PEQ IR laser without NODS.

Actually I do have a "Winnie", but it's an old one and it's condition is far from # "Minty".

ElToroMy kid keeps asking to put the yeti sticker that came with the cooler on my unstickered truck. I may allow him to actually. The yeti is an amazing cooler, glad I got mine for almost 50% off at a shop going out of business.
