Yep, evil doesn't exist, all people are good, and work is a waste of time. . . and eating animals is bad.

At least they've forgone the process of coming back home, realizing they can't get work, taking out large amounts of debt to go back to school, and then being shocked when they actually have to pay it off.

Yes, humans can be kind, but they can also be evil. All of it is contained in all of us. Any adult who doesn't know this is, by definition, naie.

Similar thing happened about 10 years ago to an activist by the name of Pippa Bacca in Turkey.

Yes, I saw that on the news a week or two ago.
I don't know what they were thinking to go through dangerous places like that.

Some lessons are harder than others. The level of confusion before being knifed to death must have been staggering. I fear he was too stupid to realize he was wrong.

I have some Buddhist scroll paintings from Tibet and Nepal and a motif you see repeated is that there are Buddhas sitting in full lotus with radiant auras, and also hideous monsters, called rakshasas, with fangs and claws and often holding severed heads.
And that's it. That is the whole human potentiality.
We see this on a daily basis. Someone jumps into an ice-choked river to pull out a drowning woman, a stranger to him. And someone else stabs a random passerby in the chest with a butcher knife.
If you think people are evil-- wrong. If you think people are good-- wrong. People are everything from Buddhas to rakshasas, and everything in between.
I would feel bad if this couple were five years old. In their twenties, there is no excuse for such stupid naivete. It's a kind of attention whoring, grandstanding. Look at me! Watch me go and give that Frankenstein so-called "monster" a nice warm hug....
