With the rapid loss of hair on my head I’m getting sunburn pretty easily. Add to that a Basal cell carcinoma was removed last year.

I need to take sun protection more seriously.

I’m looking for a spray on sunblock that is not greasy and goes on clear, long lasting and requires minimal rub in.

I use the No-Ad brand spray. Easy to pick up at Wally World. I always keep a can in my truck. Just beware, get it into a cut and it stings like hell.

The Equate Sport Broad Spectrum Sunscreen, SPF 50, from WallyWorld rates highly and works great on my bald head. Big Grin

I like both of the previous suggestions above (No-Ad and Equate). They work well when the opportunity comes up to be out on the Carolina coast. My favorite sunblock for my head now is either a Tilley hat or a Mission boonie style on really hot days.

The main issue with sunblockers isn't the working ingredient, it's the addition of other chemicals which are actually known to increase cancer risk. I might use it at the beach on vacation but not on a daily basis.

A hat is the time honored and traditional method of prevention. While the French Foreign Legion kepi with neck drape hasn't returned to style much, the neck shield is now favored by hikers and a lot of highway workers are adopting them. I was in Academy the other day and the number of mesh crown full brim hats on display was amazing. I usually wear a Swiss brand sold at Walmart which is still stocked. It came with the neck shield, too.

Summer is hat season primarily for sun protection. Like that commercial on the highly reflective version sold, they do reduce heat gain and exposure. Contrary to common acceptance, in full sun you cover up - the military requires sleeves down in full desert sun. And working at Ft Irwin I found it does shield you from the afternoon sun quite well - even in Woodland BDU's.

Be wary where it is sprayed. Some of spray types can eat into plastics.

They can also permanently stain clothes.

Since I shave my head, I wear a lot of sunblock during the summer. I initially used spray sunblock, but eventually returned to the lotion.

It's easier to apply just to the areas where you want it, and there are more option for non-greasy lotion than spray.

On my head, I currently use Neutrogena face lotion with sunscreen. Not greasy, plus it keeps my head moisturized. I have their "Triple Protect" SPF 20 for everyday use, and their "Sport Face" SPF 70 for application when I'm going to be out in the sun without a hat.
