https://x.com/syogeki_channel/.../2034215892129898595 Iaijutsu - A Japanese sword martial art developed to counter surprise attacks in situations where one's range of movement is restricted, such as while seated, in a narrow hallway, or in the corner of a room. It involves instantly drawing the Japanese sword from its scabbard and subduing an unexpected enemy.
https://x.com/DorseytTiger/status/847856785524310020 The supreme pinnacle of iaijutsu, as acclaimed, by the martial artist Tetsuyama Kuroda. The moment of drawing the sword is imperceptible.

kkina ^Yes, that's true, but you might not have your wakizashi with you (I actually don't even own one).
Iaido/iaijutsu is normally done out in the open. Practising in confined quarters would be considered a specialized application.
