If I’m told to “work from home”, it means the place is at DEFCON 1 and the “F-bomb” got dropped.

F-bomb = FURLOUGH

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Both my kids are working from home (not mine!)

My son Is in HR and is doing OK. His high school daughter is home but has nothing from the school. One of those “equity” issues. Good news is she’s a reader.

My daughter is working from home for her travel site. Yes, people are still traveling. The company is paying them if they just want to sit. However, all her team is working. (It keeps them from climbing the walls.) However, every office has one that thinks the rules are for others. He’s been out sick and with his sick wife. Either flu or Wuhan virus. So, he comes in to the empty, sterilized office, gets on a computer and starts posting on the local message board. When the news is spread all hell breaks loose. Not to mention having to sterilize the office again.

We were informed to start working from home tomorrow. I'm in IT with the State of California, and support an electronic health record system. Based on my other experiences (IT administration, desktop support, etc.), I got a call after I left asking me to work in the office tomorrow. Don't have the full information on what I'll be doing, but I'm glad to help as I can.

I'll also be checking in daily with Dad (or have one of several others check with him in person).

First off, thank you!!!

If you end up covering the DMV, please drop me an email Eek ha ha just kidding!

CA.DMV.GOV website has this posted:
"Effective immediately, customers whose transactions require an in-office visit will be served on an appointment-only basis."

Which, of course is followed by this:
"DMV currently has a limited number of appointments and none are available at this time."

Have been working from home since Tuesday as it was encouraged by my employer. Im an electrical engineer and there really hasn’t been any change in business for us yet. I was set up to work remote before hand and did quite a few of my meetings via zoom anyways, the last few days have made me realize I need a better office chair at home.

We are on a mandatory work from home if you've traveled for 14 days after return. You can work from home if capable and situation dictates.

I've been working remote for 5 years so its just another day for me. My team, are all remote now as they have kids that are home.

Last time I was in a CA DMV I had to stand in line for ~20 minutes to get a "number" so I could then go stand in a different line for service (2+ hours?). The lady in line next to me asked if she had time to go to the theater down the street and get tickets for the afternoon matinee. The next fellow in line told her she had enough time to go and watch the movie before her number was called.

A few months ago I went into an Alabama DMV office - there were three clerks at the windows, only two customers.

We were suggested a few days ago and then today an email came through that said it's pretty much mandatory that we work from home as much as able/possible at least thru March 31.

I still have to get out and do inspections in order to have anything to write up while sitting at the house. So, no more office, but still have to get out in public a few days a week.

My kind of work can't be done from home, so I hope not.

Once the WFH implementation is perfected, and companies see they can reduce the footprint of office space that is needed to operate, add in MSFT Team and the other colaboration software, WFH will become the norm.

Big issue is Mgt getting comfortable that employees are not logging in and goofing off all day. And there are those that will do so...

Nice not having tons of cars on the roads, drove to the PO Box at 6pm which is normally bumper to bumper without as much as bit of traffic. Nice.

I understand IBM had somewhat a work from home policy, know an IBM'er in Silicon Valley who did so. Seems a couple of years ago he/they were told to come back to work in the office, there was synergy in being together that didn't happen through video conferencing/internet.
