I’m in no way excusing this type of action. Nor downplaying the toughness of previous military personnel. But to say this is some new thing is not accurate. It’s ignorant, inexcusable, and unfortunately, too common.

I am NOT excusing it. As an active duty military service member I can assure you nobody hates this shit more than me. But I will not also bend to say I am doing what you accuse me of because I wasn’t. If you don’t believe me then you don’t believe me. To backtrack and say you’re right would be a lie.
