Holy smokes, man. I’m glad you got through okay. Your post reads like it was written by somebody who was there and not actually you for all its detail and objectivity.

I did not know you are conscious while they operate on you for that.

For what it’s worth, i’m saying it was the internalized work stress that almost did you in. Yeah, I’m not discounting the nicotine.

I certainly hope you recover fully and the needed changes come to you. Your family needs you. You have my prayers.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Glad you're OK, but REALLY appreciated you sharing it. Thanks!

What are you doing for diet? I'll be eating more oatmeal for breakfast now, and look into the cinnamon. 44 was in the rearview mirror years back, think I need to get a better diet.

Can relate 100%, had mine 2 weeks ago, same thing. Complete blockage in one lower artery and stent put in. Feeling a little better, hope your recovery goes well and that you're feeling better. My meds:
Brilinta 90mg
Metoprolol ER Succinate 100mg
Captopril 12.5mg
Aspirin 81mg
Furosemide 40mg
Rosuvastatin 40mg

I had a brain aneurysm rupture several years back out of the blue and due to the blood hemmorage in the brain I stroked during surgery. One of the things I was always a bit curious about with strong left side deficits and being totally numb, I always wondered if I ever suffered the effects of a heart attack and the associated pain and numbing affect that runs down the left arm is I'd ever feel it? I can say with 100% confidence the pain that runs from the chest and radiates down the left arm is totally noticeable and extremely painful. I dismissed the pain starting in the chest area the first day but the second day when it returned, it came on with a vengeance. I'm of the nature that unless I'm totally out of options I won't make a 911 call. I will certainly acknowledge it when it gets to that point though.

I'm glad that all went well for you and wish you the very best in you're recovery.

Regards, Will G.

you need to read The Magnesium Miracle, Dr. Carolyn Dean (2nd edition 2017). Tackle calcium with mg (most medications deplete mg).

Don't set any goals for pace at this point, you'll just burn yourself out if you disappoint yourself. Just go out at a pace that allows you to get a bit warm but still enjoy the walk. You can also expect a bit of leg burn when your first start out and may find you can "walk thru it" once your legs warm up and hte blood vessels open up but if you start to feel a cramp coming on you will want to stop, rest, and turn around an head home at a slower pace. Cramping can lead to a fall or pulled muscle so don't try and work thru a cramp, be smart and admit that is your present distance limit. When I first started out I could barely make a mile, after 3 months of walking daily 6 miles was easy as snacking on a good apple pie.

Second tip is get a good Heart Rate monitor. The Garmin basic monitor only costs about 45 dollars. BTW, Aloe Vera gel for sunburns works very well as a transmission gel on the contact pads. You also need a GPS Sports Watch and for a Starter I would suggest either the Garmin Forerunner 15 or Forerunner 35. Yeah the 15 is about 100 bucks and the 35 about 175 or so but you need them to link up with the heart rate monitor. In addition the GPS will log you path and distance and you can download the workout data to your computer and see all sorts of information. BTW, the 35 does Bluetooth and can link up with a Smartphone.

Finally, like every Infantry Man in any army is taught the most important thing to take care of is YOUR FEET. Good running shoes START at 100 dollars and prices go up from there. Put 70 miles or more in per week and you'll be replacing your shoes every 4-6 months. Try and cheap out on shoes at a budget store and you'll pay the price with foot, ankle, knee, or hip injuries. Heck they might even screw up your back. End result is that expensive quality shoes are actually LESS EXPENSIVE that trying to save a few dollars and then spending even more by having to pay for high dollar treatment.

BTW, you will want to get your shoes at an actually RUNNING Shop, not a Sports Store or run of the mill Shoe Store. Folks in the Running Stores are actual runners and very well experienced and trained in what is needed for a well designed and fitted shoe. Go into Dicks or Cabelas and they will try and put you into whatever shoe has the best markup and many times won't even know what Pronation is.

BTW, depending on whether you are a Supinator, Pronator, or Neutral Footed will require different types of shoe design to compensate for your particular foot pattern. When going to get fitted take a pair of very well worn shoes with you. Because a good shoe specialist can take a look at the wear pattern and put you in the right type of shoe with a near 100% success rate. BTW, Neutral is wear right down the middle of the sole from heal to toe. Pronation is outer heel wear crossing to inside toe wear path, ie. "duckfoot". BTW, my foot plant is actually a bit duckfoot but the weight placement and wear pattern is 100% neutral and I had a fitter put my in Pronation shoes that had me in horrible pain within 2 miles of my first walk with those shoes. Learned the lesson about wearing well worn shoes to the store with that unfortunate experience. BTW Supinator is inside heal to outside toe wear pattern and pigeon toed foot plant. BTW, my choice in shoes is the New Balance 880 or 1080 which is designed for a Neutral Foot.

Best wishes and look forward to seeing your posts as you progress.

I've stopped counting.
