Colorado is a great place to live and raise a family once you are outside the City and County of Denver. I escaped NJ in 1995.
Trouble is that the liberals are governing the state.

Things are marginally better here in the Deep South part of IL (Marion, about 60 miles north of Paducah, KY), but I would still like to get out of this state.

Congrats! The big move out west puts everything else (UT and WY) that much closer.

I’m hoping the next one takes me a bit north to Wyoming!

I would have never dreamed this would have happened as quickly as it did (or maybe at all) but fortunately my stay in Denver was short lived... just worked my first week at a new job and am trying to get settled down in Buffalo Wyoming. I couldn’t get out of Denver quick enough and luckily had another opportunity at a job I had actually tried to get a year and half ago. Excited to be in a state that I had long wanted to be and at what I think is going to be my dream job!

Congratulations. Looks like Denver was just a stepping stone to a better opportunity.

I lived in Illinois for many years. It's gotten significantly worse since I left 12+ years ago.

Awesome. Buffalo is a neat little town, just close enough to Sheridan for your needs, but far enough removed to be its own enclave. Outside of the cold winters I think you’ll enjoy it.

Congratulations on starting anew! Also, since you are now in Denver, can you stop by Outdoor Man and check out ammo availability and prices?

South Dakota sounds like a nice place to live (Kristi Noem Cool ), if it wasn't so cold.
Supposed to be the only state which did not have covid lock-downs and they didn't have mask mandates either.

Fantastic news! As I said back in October, Denver has become a shit show. Glad your stay was short lived. Flyover country is great be in, be it the Dakotas, Wyoming, Montana, or Nebraska.

I was lucky to land in the Black Hills of South Dakota about 25 years ago. Beautiful country and people. Having been raised in upstate NY, winters here have much less snow although winds and associated wind chills can be brutal at times. But having lived or visited every state in the union during my military and civilian careers, I am VERY well satisfied here.

Buffalo Wyoming will be a tremendous change from both Illinois and Denver. You're 170 or so miles west of me as the crow flies and about 210 by car. Explore the greater 5 State area as time permits. It's wonderful! Big Grin

Oh and Excam_Man, spot on about SD being the land of the free vis-a-vis Covid. Kristi Noem refused to have government dictate when common sense and liberty must prevail. Smile

Wow. That sounds terrific. Good for you!

I guess the wife was OK with a move to Denver--is she also OK with a move to Wyoming?

Congrats on Wyoming. I'm getting tired of the cold, or I'd head that way too. Colorado has gone to shit. Texas or Arizona will probably be our next home someday....

Congrats on the new gig and the relo! Based on the recent legislation passed, sounds like IL has sadly gone full woketard.

Thank you to everyone for the well wishes.

The wife was as ready to get out of Denver as I was and is already more comfortable here. My daughter isn’t quite as excited (she liked the shopping in CO) but the lifestyle here will suit her better... even if she doesn’t know it yet.

A couple of years back I'd of said come to Wisc. But since we traded Walker for Evers we aren't much better than the crap hole you just left.

Yep. Not to drift this thread, but everytime a friend or family member tells me they're thinking of moving to Wisconsin to get out of Illinois, I tell them about the Wisconsin 'John Doe' prosecutions of conservatives. Eek
