LeemurThe Emmys are still too white: Hollyweird eats its own.
https://www.insider.com/emmys-...-white-actors-2021-9All the major awards were given to white people. So much for being woke eh? HA!

Flash-LBI'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that perhaps the white actors/actresses did a better acting job than the affirmative action actors/actresses?

bigdealI'm just very pleased I was totally unaware that the Emmy's occurred until I read this thread.

2BobTannerSlight thread drift.
I guess it takes some time before they catch up with what the English Touring Opera did in the name of diversity; canned one-half of their musicians for being white. I guess that classical music will be next as it’s dead old white guys who wrote the stuff that is performed.

GraniteguyI missed the Emmy's again this year. Dammit.

Although I will say that watching ceiling paint dry was so much more enlightening.

jsbcodyThat was the Emmys?????? Based on some of the outfits I briefly saw (before turning the channel while channel surfing), I thought it was a scene of the Capital from "The Hunger Games".

I saw that story. It was explicit. The words were, essentially: Your contract is not being renewed so we can pursue diversity. That would be flat illegal in the U.S., but I guess Britain permits it. It is still a terrible thing.

You watch anything that's coming out of the UK having to do with the visual arts medium, and just about every single piece of work, is a box checked production. Downton Abbey could not be produced today, as there's not enough minorities in prominent roles to satisfy the press and the 'woke' board members, never mind its a period piece.
Shows like Bridgerton are getting all the funding and press support as its a 'reimagined' world. Show's like Netflix's Hollywood or Tulsa, are taking the position of, 'what if things were different...' position to what would normally be a historical setting.

I remember when the movie "Dunkirk" was released, and some reviews were complaining about the lack of diversity in the casting. To the producer's credit, at least they didn't make up a secondary plot, like a backstory love affair, just to get some diversity in the cast. I doubt they would make the movie today, and it wasn't but a few years ago that it was in theaters. Shows how fast the culture is being subverted.

parabellumSilly me. I thought these awards were supposed to be about achievement, but it turns out there are race quotas involved.
Consequently, I couldn't give the first shit about Emmy, Oscar, Grammy or the rest of the disfunctional bunch of inbred self-congratulatory assholes.

selogicIt hasn't been about achievement for a very long time .

Oh they'd just remake it, like they are doing to The Wonder Years. The commercials are even using the same music. I had the TV on in the living room a few days ago and heard the theme and when I turned around I went "Huh? That ain't Wonder Years"
