Do you wash your hands BEFORE you use the bathroom?
I was in the men’s room at a dealership today, at a urinal, and a guy comes in and washes his hands, dries them, and then proceeds to use the urinal. And he was a salesman I think; definitely not a mechanic coming in with greasy paws. This seemed odd to me, but it rang a bell like I’ve noticed it before. Again, not talking about coming right from under the hood of a car, or anything really messy. Just in general. Oh, and he did wash again afterwards.

So I’m curious. And if you do, why?Do you generally wash your hands BEFORE you use the restroom?A) Never before I go.B) Only if my hands are really filthy, greasy, sticky, etc.C) Almost always- I only want clean paws touching my ding-a-ling.D) Not even after if we’re being honest.

There’s a good logic to it. Wash your hands before touching your junk, since they’ve been all over the places, and not all of them are clean. You know the tractor story, right? Razz

Last thing a monkey wants to do is get germs on his banana.

Getting it dirty is whole 'nother thread...

A guy I was in the Marines with was FANATICAL about pre-washing. I mean like a thoracic surgeon scrubbing in.

Would then undo his trousers, pull pants and underwear waistband down then under his junk, balancing it on the underwear waistband and handle “targeting” by adjusting waistband accordingly. Bounce it a couple times before pulling underwear down and returning himself inside his shorts, then button up and buckle his belt.

Afterwards, round two of ferocious hand washing. All with never once actually touching himself.

He was a preachers kid, struck me as weird and a little repressed.

If I was dealing with public at large or handling a lot of things others have handled, I think pre-washing might be prudent.

Marine enters the head, notices a USAF Airman leaving the urinal, and heading for the door.

Marine calls out: "The Corps taught us to always wash our hands after urinating!"

The Airman replied; "The Air Force taught us to not piss on our hands..."

When I was working, my hands frequently looked like this, and often worse.

So you bet I washed my hands before using the restroom. Not so much now.

After being on the range, handling lead .22 cal cartridges, being around propellant gas...yes, I wash prior.

I've noticed some men need a water trigger to help w/ the draining process. And I've had a simple wash of the hands turn into a realization that I have to urinate too and thus end up washing, urinating, and then washing again.

Well, this thread certainly opens new insights.

When I worked in a hospital lab, I always washed my hands before (and of course, after).

I don't.

I do try to do that, but sometimes the "need" is too urgent.

I work for a smaller O&G company, with a decent sized lab.
One of our VPs mentioned something about this once, paraphrasing, the stuff they handle in the lab, you don't want in your pants.

If I am at home, no. If I am out of the house, absolutely. You never know what you touched. I learned this long ago as you don't want cross contamination, especially on your privates.
