"As of August 31, 2020 federal debt held by the public was $20.83 trillion and intragovernmental holdings were $5.88 trillion, for a total national debt of $26.70 trillion. At the end of 2019, debt held by the public was approximately 79.2% of GDP, and approximately 37% of the debt held by the public was owned by foreigners."

And people used to make fun of "drunken sailors"!

Hey, at least we only spend our own money. And when we run out, we go back out to sea to make more!

Those numbers don't include the "unfunded liabilities" of social security. This is the amount of social security and medicare the gov't has committed to pay out in the future, to all who have "earned" such, that exceeds the amount of money they will have to make those payments when due.

The present value of unfunded social security and medicare commitments is from ~$50 Trillion to ~$200 Trillion, depending on the variables used in the calculations. (ie, he debt tsunami is prob bigger and closer than many think).

Tulsi Gabbard also voted no for this pile of pork and did speak against it. I’m sure others did too, but cannot find media coverage or details. This whole thing is disgusting.

Ouch. Those of us ~10 years or more away from collecting on those promises aren't going to get much.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

America has two parties: a Progressive party to ceaselessly expand the tumorous, parasitic Federal Government, and a Conservative party to circle the wagons and protect the Progressives' "gains".

This is a rigged game, heads they win, tails you lose. We are in an abusive relationship with our government.

It's time to flip the table.

I think the most valuable thing Trump could do after leaving Office is to work to impose term limits on Congress.

@AOC

Congress is expected to vote on the second largest bill in US history *today* - $2.5 trillion - and as of about 1pm, members don’t even have the legislative text of it yet.

It’s not good enough to hear about what’s in the bill. Members of Congress need to see & read the bills we are expected to vote on.

I know it’s “controversial” & I get in trouble for sharing things like this, but the people of this country deserve to know. They deserve better.

https://twitter.com/AOC/status/1341083488594882561

She's right about that, yet AOC still voted Yay for the bill.

What in the actual hell is wrong with our representatives? And biden is talking of more spending as soon as possible. Hundreds of millions handed to foreign countries while many Americans struggle. Make Palestine great again. Make borders safe in the middle east while defunding ICE and limiting our own border security.

Spend spend spend, give money to foreign countries, bring America to its knees and now that there is a COVID vaccination ... push talk of morphed COVID and new strains of COVID so lock downs and social restrictions are carried on into perpetuity ... except for protestors, rioters, looters as long as they are democrats.

If we haven't crossed that line of no return, we can surely see it from here.

Maybe, but I wouldn’t bet heavy that the President won’t veto

Yup. Go big or go home.

Trump calls for Congress to amend COVID relief bill

President Trump on Tuesday night called for Congress to take back the massive $2.3 trillion stimulus and make changes that would provide more money to individual taxpayers.

“It really is a disgrace,” Trump said in a video posted to Twitter. “It’s called the COVID relief bill, but it has almost nothing to do with COVID.”

“I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000 or $4,000 for a couple,” he said.

The president added that the next administration may have to deal with the package, but added that “maybe that administration will be me, and we will get it done.” Wink

Foreign Aid and Military Spending are absurdly out of place in this bill.

Pork in legislation should be punishable by public hanging, no matter what party does it.

One topic per Bill should be the law of the land.

Anything else is vile.
