Is your phone silencing alerts on it's own
This has been going on for a while, just had it happen again. I'll pick up the phone and see that I have a new message, the Red indicator dot is on the Message app. However when I open it, whomever has messaged me has the silence icon next to their name, the small bell with a line through it.

Thing is I have never silenced anyone, I have blocked people who spam. Its randomly happening, the one now was from Amazon on a refund. Opening the contact the switch for Hide Alerts is on.

Yes! I miss calls as well as texts. Weird. I thought it was glitch with a recent iOS update or a “feature” I haven’t figured out yet.

Both carriers and operating systems on phones are blocking or silencing what they believe or know are spam or scam calls.

They do not get it 100% correct.

Yes. Constantly.

Missed calls, missed alerts, but god forbid, X and LinkedIn get through every time.

They may be but that's not what's happening here.

I get a text and the phone doesn't alert me, then open the text app and see the silenced icon next to the contact name.

From inside the Text, touch the contact name and the detail page comes up, the switch for Hide Alerts is on, which I never set to on.

It's random, not on spam, happens on contacts in the phone and not to all of them, nor does it repeat on specific contacts.

Mine recently loaded numerous text messages that I had deleted.... In February and March. That was new to me!

Yes, on Android. Outlook and DoorDash. Outlook I rely on for work, and missing e-mail notifications ticks me off. Text messages usually come in instantly, as far as I know.

Phone's ringing, Dude.

My wife has been complaining some of her calls never ring, they just go to voicemail. I just kinda figured it was her.

If there is a network problem (congestion, tower(s) out of service, etc.), calls will go straight to voice mail. This is system design.

Yes, my phone has been managing notifications on its own for a while now, regardless of what my settings are. It's an Iphone 12 so I blame it on the Apple updates. No one can convince me it isn't planned obsolescence from Apple, in an effort to push us to buy the latest Iphone. I am resisting and just check the phone more often for missed calls and texts. Other than this quirk, the phone works great so no need to replace it yet.
