Being a born and raised Kalifornian, February of this New Year, I will be an Arizona Prescottonian!! Yes it is true. I have been researching the Prescott Arizona area for the past several years since retirement. Wife finally agreed to go over and look around, we loved the place, and while there put on offer in on a house which we quickly lost out on due to a cash offer from someone else. So, the hunt was on. Another house we liked popped up, phone call to our realtor and a day later they accepted our offer.

Please...Before all you sitting Arizonians start screaming at another Kalifornia moving to your great state. I spent many summers with Granny at her house in Chandler. So Arizona is kind of in my blood. Also, as a staunch Republican, I am not looking to bring/change anything from Kalifornia to Arizona.

And why do I want out of Kalifornia? Lets see, new laws today..Restaurants can no longer hand out catsup/utensils, etc unless you ASK for them, the word "illegal" alien can no longer be used, Pork products going up around 60% due to space requirements, schools can't start before 0800 (the kiddies need their sleep), stores must display gender neutral toy sections, police restricted on using tear gas/rubber bullets, laws? don't even go there. Every year criminals get more freedoms and less sentencing. That's a whole other thread and believe me we see the criminals released, and even the same day commit crimes and get a ticket instead of going to jail.

Remember, I am paroled from this nightmare Kalifornia regime and looking to enjoy my final days in a free state and look forward to new friendships (and watching the Deer in my backyard!) Forum member Mt. Cowboy, another Prescott local, has been helpful with my questions regarding the move.

We have made a few trips with the truck and trailer filling the house with our fragile items and those the movers wont take. Then, come February the big moving truck comes and away we go. A new adventure and a much nicer area to live in.

My first thing to do once the move is complete;

Buy a suppressor for some rifles, maybe even walk into a store and walk OUT with a new gun. Things that cannot ever happen in this sad state of Kalifornia.

So, I promise not to violate any Arizona rules and look forward to running across some Forum members once my Parole is final next month!

Congrats! I spend 8-12 weeks a year in the Tempe area; there's plenty of room for us all. Lots to do for outdoor types!

Want to find the small northern AZ town someone once asked about on this forum; they were asking what kind of trees were running through the main street; I called the local post office and got an answer, but forgot which town it was!

Congrats.

Considered a move to northern Arizona in the mid 80’s but the prospective employer and I were too far apart in what was fair compensation for what I could have done there.

And today just too old for a cross country move.

Congratulations. Moved here myself to Prescott Valley in May 2021 from the Bay Area.

People are friendly. And, yes, walking in and walking out with a gun in 30 minutes can be a pleasant shock. Get yourself a concealed carry permit and you don't have to go through a NICS check. It's about a 75 day process and I advice that you call soon after the 75 day is up. I got the feeling that if I hadn't called, they would have waited to mail my permit.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." There are no beaches, but otherwise I think you'll enjoy the Prescott area. I grew up in Arizona, and always enjoyed visiting Prescott. I think of the whole Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Paulden area as "Gun Valley" as guns and shooting are so much a part of the environment. And Gunsite is just up the road; did a couple classes there myself. Neat area, somewhat the victim of it's own success, as evidenced by the population and traffic there now. Still a great place IMHO.
