Jeep Guys - need help with where to mount a holster
I have a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and now that Spring is here and we are planning on some longer Overlanding trips I’d like to find a better way to holster my pistol while driving.

CMM Off-road has an attachment piece that looks like it would work for a yet unknown brand of holster and I am wondering what you use…

Here’s the link:

I am open to other locations as well. Show me what you use!
Thanks.

PS. This would be for either a 365XL or a 239

Just rest it on the dash with all the ducks!

In all seriousness, I got a cheap plastic form fit off Amazon that hold it just fine, and it sits behind the shift column.

I paid $10 for this one

It likely won't keep the gun secured during a hard accident, but I currently am using a magnetic mount on the side of the stick column. It holds the gun very well. The XD45 is not what I daily carry, but I wanted to see how a full size pistol held up in off-road conditions. No problem. It never moved.

I keep a 9Mm Shield Plus in a soft open top holster, mounted vertically and Velcroed to the inside of my console. Fairly quick to access but out of sight.

I would take the same precautions against a ND plus potential crash forces as on body carry.
That photo above looks less than ideal from a safety perspective.
Something like this Safariland Paddle Holster, secured with high strength velco or fastened to a panel, could be a much better and safer option.

OK that photo I added above was a bit larger than I expected...
But it gets the point across lol.

The holster portion attaches to a bracket which is bolted to the center console and braced against the seat.
No crazy jeep modification needed - it uses existing bolt holes.

I've seen a kydex holster mounted to the plastic shroud below the steering column. I have a pic around here somewhere... if I can find it, I'll post it.

It seemed to work well. It was bolted in, thus pretty secure. The pistol was easy to reach, but well out of the way and nicely hidden.

Coworker had similar in her Mercedes. It [holster, not gun] disappeared when it was at 1 of the 2 body shops it visited a couple months ago

Overland Outfitters makes a "Grab bar pockets", velcro attaches to grab bar on passenger side. The pockets are a perfect fit for my holstered P365 and other small similar pocket guns would fit also. The gun fits in the pocket only with no retention from the pocket. A good carry option for long trips and quick access instead of trying to pull it out of your pocket while seated in the Jeep.

OK guys, I thought I’d give you an update as to what I actually did..

As mentioned previously I ended up using the CMM attachment baseplate/bracket to attach everything to the Jeep using an existing factory bolt.

https://cmmoffroad.com/product...rsal-accessory-mount

Then I bought an Alien Gear ShapeShift holster and slightly modified it to accept the CMM bracket. A video of the installation (from CMM) can be seen here…

And here are a few pictures of how it looks with my 365XL installed…

It allows very easy access but is somewhat concealed at the same time.

I have an el cheap-o kydex holster for my G-43x and G-19. I think they were $15 a piece.

I stuff it between the seat & center console and use a small zip tie to fasten it to the seat belt thing.

Here's another thing that I love:

I have the glove compartment as well. If you get 2,3,4 different products, they have an option to have everything keyed the same so you're not fumbling around and looking like Floyd the janitor with 628 keys on you.
