I recently got rid of my old DVR and went with a Hopper system and I must say I do like it, but one thing that seems to be missing is a one-button record option...

maybe I am missing something but I've gone through the handbook, and can find no mention of something. If I'm watching a show I don't seem to be able to push a button to record it, and once the show has started, you can't go to the guide and program it as an event...

I've got a Hopper 3. Love it. The remote is sleek, but yes, missing some functionality. I believe you can press the select button while watching your program, which will then let you record.

So two clicks, instead of one. .

Or the remote near the bottom has the buttons with the diamonds. These are programmable to whatever you want.

The voice activated search is cool. maybe that'll work to record?

We have the original hopper, I hate it!
It would have been long gone but my wife wants it.
Always an issue, can't just sit back and watch TV, have to wait for a glitch to happen and then analyze the damn thing so you can try and watch the show you were watching but now missed 15 min. of. Suddenly changes channels, or shuts down because you didn't check back with it that you were watching. Constantly have the Dish people on the phone or out at the house trying to fix something.

easy to program to TV in the menu setting. I think under the Remote category.

I have the original hopper and it’s well past it’s prime. Dish wants a bunch of money and a new 2 year commitment to upgrade. I’m probably gonna kick Dish out and go to streaming. I’ve paid them way too much money over the past 20 years.
