SIG4EVAThe Big Beautiful Bill
I'm disappointed the NFA wasn't abolished but getting rid of the tax stamp was the next best thing.

In fact, that is probably the only time in my lifetime that Congress ran well and in the country's best interests.
But while Bill crawled around the Oval Office with Monica... he was happy to take credit for the only balanced budget of our lifetime.
The only way they balanced it was draconian reduction in the military and industry to maintain it, followed by writing an IOU for the money they took out of the SSA surplus.

Trump said he wanted it done by July 4th. They got it passed on July 3rd.
It is by no means perfect. But it let's Trump continue moving forward with his agenda. I do not think Trump will be letting off the gas for one minute. If anything, I expect he will move faster.
I loved the way he forced the President of UVA to resign. With any luck he will break the strangle-hold universities on our society.
Trump is the embodiment of "lead, follow, or get out of the way." Trump is the only Republican that has been able to show true leadership in a long time. The other Republicans need to either fall in line or get the hell out of the way.

Right now, that's what I understand. However, Representatives Clyde and Cloud were holding out last night over HPA/SHORT. I don't know anymore than the next person, but I'm fairly sure there had to have been some deal. I really hope it's not "wait until next year and we'll fix it".

Rey HRHAnd Gemini says the Hearing Protection Act and the SBR provision got included back in!

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I'd like to see a source on that. Last I saw, it was as 92fstech says and it was to be a "$0 tax stamp" and the GOA was going to sue them over it. You can't have a registry and enforcement over no tax and the parliamentarian unwittingly walked the senate right into a weak legal position in regards to the NFA being challenged.

Yup - GOA isn’t done with this yet:
https://www.gunowners.org/goa-...-to-presidents-desk/This will be an interesting lawsuit…if they can get the whole damned NFA repealed, what a win for 2A rights. I’m in my 40’s and learned about the NFA and its regulations when I was around 15…never in my life would I have bet even a penny that the NFA had a chance of being flushed down the toilet!

Same, same. This is the closest we've ever come to it. Going to be an interesting few years on the 2A front.
https://www.reddit.com/r/NFA/c...ll_returns_to_house/Yeah, looks like I have it right, "$0 tax stamps." I'll take it, but I'm still going to say it's horseshit that an unelected person torpedoed the will of the people and our elected representatives. Thune needs to be looking for a new job since he wouldn't shitcan her. In the meantime, I'm going to take the opportunity to register basically everything I feel like engraving as an SBR/SBS. I'm going to bury those clowns in Form 1's and Form 4's. 3D printer goes brrrrr, drillpress goes whirrrrrr.

92fstechOr maybe they let this happen, knowing that the constitutional justification for the NFA is the very idea that it's a tax. Either way, intentional or otherwise, they may have just set the stage for the courts to overturn the whole thing. Wouldn't it be hilarious if by denying us suppressors and SBRs they inadvertently gave us machine guns, too? Lol.
Would have been a lot easier to just address it in the bill, though...and the argument she used to remove it was utter horseshit.

For me, the simpler explanation is that they didn't want to hurt their chances of re-election with the non-2A crowd but leaving it in neutered could also be touted as a win (see the NRA's X post crowing about this "win" and how mercilessly they got dragged for it), so it was easier to let her be the bad guy. They got to have it both ways.

Hey, this is still the plane of existence where Roe V Wade got overturned and a lot of people never saw that coming.

Ronin101I would like to be able to read what was actually agreed too ie the final bill. Its like a game of three card monte.
When the senate passed the no taxing OT they said 12500 for single and 25000 for married. I want to know if that means they dont take it at all or they refund up to that amount at tax time. The devil is in the deatails!!
July 03, 2025, 07:14 PM
oddballTo not have the bill pass would be harmful, and frankly, just colossally stupid. If the bill had not passed, shit would be worse, taxes higher, no extra funding for getting these illegal fucks outta here, etc.
Classic goldilocks situation; this bed is too soft, this bed is too hard. This bill doesn't contain what I want.
Trump, thru will and leadership, got this bill passed. Rock on.

I don’t have a link because I heard it on the radio but they said the tips and overtime would be taxed on your paycheck and then filed on your annual taxes and come back as a refund.

hudrI believe we need to acknowledge the win.
“All or Nothing” has gotten us mainly nothing over my lifetime.
Incrementalism has eroded our rights, incrementalism can get them back.
It looks like our opponents may have backed themselves into a corner. We just need to play out the hand we have been dealt.
