Saw one at the auto show several years ago. Loaded with creature comforts for something meant to haul.

We used to see a few, from mild to wild paint and graphics on the Ford F650 Super Crewser pulling 5th wheel RVs. We went with an International 4700 instead.

Not my picture:

When I lived in Anchorage, there was this wee little African-American feller who drove one. He played it up big - dressed like a pimp, walked slowly with a strut, etc.

It must have been from my Blackberry days because it's not in my iPhone photos.

F550s and F650s are sold as cabovers, meaning just the chassis and cab. There's no bed so the customer is free to add whatever after the purchase. The two trucks pictured have had beds added after the fact--one from a regular pickup and one a custom job for trailer towing. The black one has been stretched with a third row of doors added as well as the addition fuel tranks. Not sure if the wheels are stock. The white one has had aftermarket wheels and tires added, as well as bodywork.

I saw one of them stretched cabs last summer outside a Walmart. Snapped this picture.

There’s a professional bass fisherman, Skeet Reese, that tows his boat with an F650. I remembered seeing something on tv about it once. I thought maybe he had gone a different route but I saw his truck and bass boat heading down I70 in Missouri on one of my work trips around the state within the last year or two.

How many gallons per mile does it get? That thing looks cool but I couldn't imagine having to feed it.

~7 mpg

The ones pictured, with all the added custom stuff (weight), likely even less.

I imagine if you can afford to buy it, you can afford to feed it, even with today's gas prices.

Pre bankruptcy era GM used to do a similar thing with the 4500-5500 series trucks. Sold as a cab-chassis there was at least one upfitter that had a pickup style box available for them.

The dealership I worked at sold many of them as tow rigs for fifth wheel and goosenecks. A couple were just used as big pickups though.

Why you ask? Because they could! Pretty impressive looking especially the 4WD ones.

My son's pitching coach is an ex mlb pitcher who drives one. Thing is hooooge!

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.
