Not intended as a rip to the OP, just why would Eleanor sign her name to a comment like that?

Perhaps she observed how change was affecting society in her time.
The rise of sillyvision, celebrities and athletes becoming better known and followed
while those who ran the country began to fly under the radar. Our heroes becoming designer
people foisted upon us, becoming more real than reality.
So the media and ad agencies became wealthier and more influential. Successfully enticing
the people to think old values were out of date.
And so they did become.
And here we are today.
