I Am The Walrus |
Would definitely come up during a top secret investigation. Might not come up for a secret investigation. The TS digs deeper with more in person interviews and inquires for more inquiries. I'm inclined to believe a cyber ops specialist would need a TS. They're not going to train the guy when he can't get the proper clearance. Or worse, they start his TS (it will take many months) and he's shipped off to basic. He gets partially through basic and his TS is denied and he's made needs of the Army. He might have a small list of MOSs to choose from or they'll stick him in something depending on when the quickest AIT class is upon graduation of basic training. _____________

Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best![]() |
Yeah, that was my concern. I'm not military, so I have no idea what all goes into those investigations, but I know something like that would come up in an LE background. But in LE, worst case you don't get the job...in the military they still own you and can put you wherever they want.

Fighting the good fight![]() |
Yes, it would come up. Prior employment and reasons for leaving is something that is checked by the DCSA investigators. Whether it would be disqualifying for the required level of clearance is up to the final adjudicator, and will depend on a number of factors, including for one how candid he is about being fired. (i.e. don't lie or try to cover it up, as that's a surefire way to fail, whereas telling the truth gives them at least a chance to pass...) But yes, joining with some red flags in your background and just hoping you can then pass a clearance investigation for the job you want is pretty risky.
