Madaganistan Gun Control Bills passed House
From the NRA_ILA:

"On February 28th, the Illinois state House of Representatives voted to pass a number of gun control bills that will severely infringe upon Second Amendment rights, including a combination gun/magazine ban and confiscation bill for young adults, the egregious dealer licensing bill and other extreme measures such as imposing an extended waiting period."

Those that live in the Democratic People's Republic can contact their legislators and governor here: https://act.nraila.org/default.aspx

I can't wait to move out of this state.

Several of those bills were defeated last year and the year before, I think. Passed now by crooked Chicago politicians and cowardly down-state politicians.

I've been trying to escape this Shithole state for years, but now we're crippled by excessive medical expenses and can't afford it.

What will happen when enough of us feel cornered, I wonder?

P.S. I received the NRA e-mail that was sent at 11:45 PM, and contacted my state senator and representative, both Republicans, and added a little "love note" to Rauner. Told him I voted for him in good faith as a Republican, and want him to act as such, protecting our Civil Liberties. He'll never see it, of course, but maybe one of his aides will, and realize that pissing off the Republican base will guarantee his losing the next election.

I proudly voted for Ronald Reagan in 1980, but not in 1984 since he went soft on gun control, and I'll do the same with Rauner.

With our close proximity to you guys, I worry that if we get another demoncrat in Masison, we could be heading down the same path. I hope Walker stays for awhile.

For those that want to leave states like Illinois, New York, California, etc., gun rights are just the symptom, not the only problem.
Once you are out of there for a while you look back and see all the other areas where they try to control other parts of your life too. Guns and taxes are the most obvious.
Much more freedom is just a move away.

Right you are.
It's really a shame. All three states are naturally beautiful places with abundant resources, completely corrupted by Democrats.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

It amazes me how tone deaf some people can be. If all these gun control measures worked, why isn't Chicago the safest place on earth?

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

If Chicago were walled off from the rest of the state, Illinois would be a pretty decent place.

If they confiscate what was legally purchased (evil mag or gun) and the owner hasn't had any dings against them (drug use, psych issues, etc.), wouldn't this give said owner pretty solid standing in court?

I hope they get it broke off in their nether regions several times over.

That will be up to the NRA, I would imagine, if they're not too overwhelmed. I haven't heard Jack from ISRA in years.

Don't forget that under socialist rule, everything belongs to the State anyway, so no-doubt Illinois will convince some judge that they don't need even to compensate when seizing what they deem to be "illegal."

" HB 1469 would ban standard capacity ammunition magazines over 10 rounds in capacity and body armor. The vast majority of handguns have standard capacity magazines holding more than 10 rounds. These magazines would have to be disposed of within 90 days."

And short of visiting every home, with a warrant, how would they know?

Do you really think all the data from 4473s gets destroyed after processing? Serial numbers can be run to trace ownership through government records to investigate crime, so a reverse search would be simple.

No one is going door to door to collect items that have been deemed prohibited; they will simply do what every commie state has already done- bide their time until someone is caught with a prohibited item, then obtain a warrant to come to that individuals residence. You have to heat the water gradually if you want to cook the frog.

Uhh yeah, not happening. The manpower alone just isn't there let alone the money to pay for it.

M-11's question was how they would know, and that's what I was addressing. Door-to-door searches are a Lib's wet dream, though, aren't they?

We have Florida's numerous and the FBIs failures to thank for a lot of this since the killer was able to buy the AR-15 legally and low law abiding citizens have to suffer.

I believe the overall magazine ban has not been voted on yet but should be shortly.

They fucking banned .50 caliber rifles too. WTF?

The state firearms dealer licensing board is really bad news. It will be packed with gun haters that have a lot of power. IMO this was custom designed to prevent gun stores from opening in Chicago and closing those in the near suburbs. I see most small FFLs going out of business which is by design.

The 4473 is retained at the LGS.

When ATF wants to trace they call the store and give them a serial number and when it was shipped from the wholesaler to the LGS....the store has to look up the 4473 and call ATF back to tell them who bought the gun

And god forbid you use a pistol with a 15 round magazine in it to defend you home and family from home invaders because you would be front page news doing so and probably in more trouble than the home invaders including losing your FOID, your CCW permit, and your firearms.

And I'd like to Thank all of my Sig Forum brothers and sisters that buy Springfield Armory firearms since they made a deal with the Chicago democrats to let Springfield opt out of these new laws!!! They acted like they repented after it came to light, but of course they didn't ask for the law to be changed.

AFAIK, they're still across the river from me in Geneseo IL. Rock River Arms is in nearby Colona.

Armalite no longer does much work in Geneseo, Les Baer moved to IA, and LMT is building a new IA plant to escape from IL.
