Three people who failed to defend themselves in court against a lawsuit accusing them of assaulting conservative writer Andy Ngo during a 2019 protest in Portland owe Ngo a combined $300,000, a judge ruled Monday. Multnomah County Circuit Judge Chanpone Sinlapasai split the damages equally among the three no-show defendants — Katherine Belyea, Madison Allen and Joseph Evans — after a roughly hourlong trial where Ngo’s testimony went unchallenged. Evans now goes by the legal name Sammich Overkill Schott-Deputy. Exactly. Those POS thugs have $300k? Oh…wait. They can steal it. OK…is coo’, yo! "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. These three miscreants didn't show up because they don't believe the law applies to them. In their twisted minds they are above it, beyond it, outside of it and therefore the court can shove it. I doubt he'll collect as they are likely drifters and police have better things to do than track them down. With any luck they'll get popped for something down the road and then find themselves in a world of hurt. Which sounds like a heck of a good name for a heavy metal/bluegrass fusion band. "And here's Sammich Overkill with their newest album: Bacon, Lettuce, and 'Maters..."

Maybe, maybe not. In this day and age it's a hell of a lot harder to stay ahead of collections though, and aside from periods they're either totally homeless or off the grid he can be there with his hand out to collect. It might take them a lifetime to pay it off, but it will be there hanging around their neck until they do as well. "The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people." "Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy." "I did," said Ford, "it is." "So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?" "It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want." "You mean they actually vote for the lizards." "Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course." "But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?" "Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Nah, they'll just walk up from the basement and have their parents write them a check.

I hope he gets every penny and then some. Any criminal charges - I hope they get the book thrown at them and serve every minute. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

I was surprised Ngo lost the other case against John Hacker and Elizabeth Richter Sounds like it was sheer jury intimidation https://www.foxnews.com/media/...idnt-receive-justice "the court did inform both parties of the day of deliberations that the jury was concerned that they were being threatened or potentially doxxed or there was going to be some kind of repercussions if the verdict did not come out the right way here."

Little ray of sunshine |
The police don't collect civils debts by seeking out debtors or even by holding debtors if they catch them for some other reason. What they sometimes do is serve various writs to try to collect, but only after a writ is given to them by a judgment creditor. And I would guess one of the reasons these no-goodniks defaulted at trial was because they know they are judgment proof. Still we can all hope he makes their lives as miserable as he can. Yep those are 2 different cases. Link to case in original post from Oregon Live Ngo's best chance of collection on his judgement against the 3 douche canoes is wage garnishment, and even then, probably not great. __________________________________ NRA Benefactor I lost all my weapons in a boating, umm, accident. http://www.aufamily.com/forums/

Thank you Very little |
It's not about getting paid, he wasn't getting any criminal justice, so civil was his only recourse for exposing these people. Maybe Sammich Overkill will get a book or movie deal, or create a Fusion Rock/Bluegrass band and get revenue off OnlyFans or uToob, who knows, the judgement will stand and then he'd get paid. The second case is interesting that the jury admitted they didn't convict because of threats, shouldn't that be a mistrial and be allowed to be retried in a neutral area...?

That was my take, given that it was a civil-liable case I'm guessing the county determined because it wasn't a criminal case, it didn't require relocating, nevertheless, intimidation and harassment was a hallmark of this case. The judge is either an over lenient Lefty, didn't perceive any of the above issues or, is in fear of intimidation himself. The second judgement is a consolation prize, despite naming specific individuals, collecting the amount is the next hurdle. This message has been edited. Last edited by: corsair,

OP posted a news story w/o a link, which is against long standing SF policy. I asked for link to his specific story. You quoted me, then proceeded to post a completely different story, which is relatively old news. The one posted by OP, I wasn't aware of. Q

The dirtbags may not have funds today but the judgment can be renewed every 10 years. getting subpoenaed for a debtors exam on a regular basis isn't fun. First one is the best where it begins with take out your wallet and place it on the table, empty your pockets etc. Doubt if they work but if so snag any tax refund.
