The only problem is, it takes about 6 shots from the Bug Assault Gun to kill one. I went back to the foam spray. | |||

I also use a 12 gauge. I drive my truck as close as possible, shoot the nest several times, shoot the branch that the nest is on, then spray them angry bastards! If they get real active, I’ll roll the window up till they calm down and spray again. I read somewhere hornets and wasps will head butt you to warn you before they sting. I believe it’s true. I worked at several power utilities for many years and spent a lot of time in substations. Subs are magnets for bees. Been bumped into many times. Wilson County (NC) Sheriff’s Deputy Ray “Bull” Tomlinson died on this day in 2015 due to wasp stings. I worked in the city as a police officer, but had many occasions to work with Bull as our city was in the middle of the county. He was out cleaning up some debris on his day off and was stung hundreds of times and succumbed to the injuries. I’ve never met a funnier man. He used to have the hardest criminal in stitches within a few minutes. He had just gotten married and I often think of his widow and how hard it must be for her. I’ve never liked wasps. My dad had me look into a 6” piece of PVC on the solar water heater he made for the pool at my grandma’s house and I got popped on my eyelid. I was maybe 7 or 8. I can still remember how hot the swelling and burning was. I use Bifen I/T around the house every three or four months to keep the insects at bay. And spray the weep holes in the bricks, eaves, corners, inside and out and behind wooden fencing rails…I hate wasps. While I’m in the garage reloading or working if one flies in I use brake cleaner to drop them in flight. When I lived in the mountains of NC we would get yellow jackets building nests in the ground. Those things are the worst of the worst. I’d be out mowing and see the ground begin to move after running over an entrance…I’d mark them with a rock or rag or anything and come back at night and dad would burn them or put sevin powder in them.
