These are the cables I use. I've had them about 4 months and have had no issues with them. Jim

| I buy Anker cords. I only went for one of the expensive, braided-jacket ones once, for in my truck, because... well, because So far neither my wife nor I have had a single charging cord, USB or Lightning, go bad. (KOW)

An easy way to help avoid this is to wrap the spring from a click pen around both ends. Some springs fit very snugly and might require looking for a larger spring. |

You's be amazed at the amount of pocket lint dirt and general crud coating everything in the hole and especially packed down at the bottom by you pushing that connector in every day. Many times the charging cord is blamed when in actuality, there's so much crap in the holes that they simply cant get a good connection.
What works REALLY well without hurting anything is the soft plastic toothpics on the ends of the plastic flosser thingies for flossing and picking your teeth. It's small enough to get to the bottom of the hole, and stiff enough to snag out lint and scrape dirt particles, but not stiff enough to tear out or break connections. Run the toothpic part around the bottom of the charging port and also lightly scrap across the electrical connectors after getting most of the crud out of the bottom.
I'll have to remember this. Great tip.

It was not evil that made me dangerous. It was love.
| Here’s another vote for Anker. I use their car chargers as well. Got the five port charger for family trips.

I’ve never had one wear out on me. I bought extras for traveling. Are you maybe wrapping the cord into small circles such that it stresses and breaks the wires inside?
Thought I read that Apple reformulated the plastic to be more eco-friendly. |

| I’ve got a braided BYZ cable that works great and seems very well constructed.

| Anker cables are marginally better than others. I have about 15 dead Anker cables in a box. They feel nice and heavy duty with the braid and thicker jacket but that is not where they fail. Same thing with Amazon basics cables. Now, I just wait for a deal to pop up on Amazon and I buy 3 cables for $11. |

Too clever by half

I used the reciept from Amazon, a picture of the cracked end and a picture of the serial number tag attached to the cord. They replaced it with no questions.
I ordered a pair of heavy duty rubber/vinyl jacketed Ankers, and one failed within a week. I had an identical warranty process and replacement experience, and both have been working perfectly since. So, if they replace them if they fail, why pay 3 times the cost for the braided cords?

Ice age heat wave, cant complain.
| I've had good luck with Apple cords and Belkins. The off brand cords died significantly sooner but were 1/3 the price.
