The amazing loyalty of dogs
“A dog abandoned at a lonely Siberian bus stop has a new owner this Christmas after waiting in vain some six months for his master to return.

The loyal pet refused to budge, even when temperatures sank to minus 30C, getting excited only when grey-coloured cars passed by.

'This is such a faithful dog, we think his unknown master had a grey car,' said local farmer Sabyrgali Baysagurov who tried and failed to catch the mongrel.

'He would chase only cars with this colour hoping to find his owner..'
The dog was abandoned in the summer when Siberian was warm.

In recent weeks temperatures slumped and locals left food for the dog who was christened Hachiko after a legendary Japanese pet that waited more than nine years for its owner who had died…”

What can one say?

Yes, dogs are amazingly loyal, to the point of dying for their families.

What is puzzling is why it took so long to get the poor guy some help. As in a safe and warm home.

They are amazing animals, I think mine would give me about an hour and lose hope and abandon ship for greener pastures.

It appears Mametkino may be in Novosibirsk oblast, or at least within a couple of hundred miles of Novosibirsk city. Russians dote on children and are fond of their dogs...mostly.

There is a special level of hell reserved for those that raise a dog, gain it’s trust, love, and devotion and then abandon it. I hate these people with a passion.

Happy the dog finally let go of the past and embraced the future. Hope he has found forever in his new home........nothing should be abandoned in such a way.

And here is another. I hesitated to post even more darkness but I guess raising awareness of these turds is the better of two evils....

A pox on the assholes that do this, but more importantly a big Thank You to all the people on this forum that adopt, care for, own, train, and anything else for any animal. THANK YOU for making the world a better place.

“dog” is “god” spelled backwards. Just saying.

One sure way to get crossways with me is to mistreat an animal, especially dogs.

Jax, our Boston Terrier, is sleeping beside me in the chair as I type this. I hope that tells you my take on animal treatment.

My Siberians are just too big to fit.

If you develop a bond with your dog, you will not have a truer friend. I am glad for the little dog in Russia. So many more that need help.

Presently, we have 13 dogs. My heart sometimes over rules my logical thinking, and I say " yes, we will adopt or take" Fido. No regrets, it keeps me active, and gives me a purpose every day.

I love walking all of them, nothing is more special than a good walk on a nice summer day with your dog.

Are my dogs loyal? Well, Sebastian & Copper, my 2 Japanese Shiba Inu are. My Siberians...not so much... Frown

Dogs are good people ...

Our rescue is the sweetest dog I've ever had. I just can't understand a (sub) human that would just abandon a dog.

Is there a name for the mental illness people have who do not like dogs?

A sad but beautiful story.

Reminds me of the tale from Greek mythology about Odysseus and his faithful dog Argos, who waited 20 years for his return from the wars. His hope finally fulfilled, Argos then dies.
