But I do have to say my 'constitutional moment' tomorrow might be interesting in that it is supposed to be 8 degrees here and that means the water in the pipes under the house might be a tad cooler than normal... I'll report back later.

Mine is non-heated and today was 11 degrees and the water was no different than normal. Sure it would be nice to have heated everything, but I can’t justify the price when a basic one works great.

The house I bought last year had a standalone bidet. Warm and cold water. Me and the wife talked about plans to rid ourselves of it.

I will never get rid of it now. They are fantastic. I know nothing of brands, types, anything like that. I can say it has been a godsend for me after all my colon cancer surgeries. I love it.

In similar ways, I agree with you and reason want a bidet/washlet. We are not interested in a standalone, but rather one to place onto of a Toto toilet. Still will be same results, just not having another porcelain item in the bathroom.

I concur. Or I did concur. When we walked through our now house both of us were surprised by the standalone bidet. Wasn’t enough to dissuade us but certainly not a selling point. The previous original owner was Asian and I took it as a cultural thing. Now I’m a believer.

So can I draw the consensus that no one has regretted buying a bidet and going through the trouble of having an outlet installed in the bathroom ? They’re really all that? Frankly I still have doubts.. mostly of the technical nature (how this does a better “job”). But I will bow to y’all’s expertise.

I have no reservations, I absolutely love mine. I will never not have in any house I have. Like i said before, I put them in all 3 of my bathrooms so I would have the same experience no matter which one I used. My wife wanted the heated seat, which was my primary reason to get one, that ALONE is worth the price. Sitting on a warm seat during winter time is terrific.
And yes, they do clean better. Imagine you finish eating and want to clean your plate. Go grab a wad of toilet paper and wipe the plate down. Keep grabbing toilet paper and wiping the plate down until you think it's clean, then put it away. Grab a new dirty plate, then run it under the sprayer with warm water until it's clean, wipe it dry with toilet paper and put it away. Which one would you want to eat off later?

I use the cleaning wand until the water turns cold, about 45-60 seconds. Then I use the dryer setting to blow a little of the water off, about 30 seconds or so, then use a little bit of paper to fully dry off. The paper is completely clean, it's just for drying. I feel clean after using it. The same thing when I'm at a hotel, I wipe and wipe and wipe and never feel really clean, cause then I go and have to use a moist towlette to finish off.

And to be clear, the water wand is very localized, it only hits the money maker,it's not like it sprays your whole nether region. So you are not covered in water after using a bidet. You only need about 4 squares to dry off.

I promise you won’t regret if you get one. I have the most basic version and love it. I thought they were stupid for 48 years of my life until I decided to get one. Now I absolutely love it for so many reasons. My wife was also still hesitant until I have had mine for a year and I had bought one for her that has been sitting in the box. Now she wants it installed.

At my previous house, I had this one:

No failures in 5 years of use.

Where I live now, I have this one:

It's a Brondell Swash SE600. I've mounted an inline water filter this time, hoping to cut down on the iron scaling.

Once you've had a heated seat in a Northern climate...it's difficult to go without.

Once you've enjoyed the cleanliness and reduced toilet paper of a quality bidet...it's also difficult to go without.

I highly recommend.
