Maybe you may not be in Kansas ... but I know where I am in the Pacific Northwest. Hope you figure out where you are so Santa can find you. ☺

I'm sure it depends on the model and price point you are looking at. But all the ones I get do. There is no way I would want a blast of Colorado well water shooting up there. The one I linked to earlier has 3 heat settings for water, 3 for the heated seat and 3 for the dryer. You can customize the experience to your preference. It also has an adjustable wand to dial in the aim, and mine has about 8 pressure settings so you can go from "paint removal" to "gentle mist" and have an enjoyable experience.

I kind of get the hesitation, but I don't understand why more people don't adopt the bidet system. It's gentler than scraping paper across the area, it's more hygienic, I don't have to reach back and stick my hands back there for any reason, it's great for people with shoulder issues or twisting issues. It's an all around superior way to clean your butt. I only wish I could get a travel one to take everywhere.

#1,I never in my life thought I would buy or like a bidet. I thought it was a dumb idea, but I was so very wrong. I got a Brondell model about a year ago and love it and now hate “normal” toilets.

I don’t have a hot water line to my toilet or an electrical outlet so I had to buy the basic version. I don’t mind it at all. Sure it would be nice to have a heated seat, heated air dry you, or give warm water wash you but those devices can be pretty expensive.

I do like Brondell as a brand and will equip every toilet we use regularly with one. If I build a new home, then at the least I will run a hot water line to the toilet but might as well add an electrical outlet. You save a lot on toilet paper.

Though not needed, since I can during my remodel will run a hot water line.

Running an outlet would be better. I don't even think a hot water line is necessary. The bidet has an adjustable water heater to make it comfortable. If you run hot water to the bidet, you are going to be shooting 115 degree water right at you money maker, unless you add a mixing valve and spend time adjusting it to get just the right temperature. In the summer I like my water cooler, in the winter warmer, it's very easy to adjust with the bidet, not so much with a straight tap to the hot water tank.

It ain't the quantity, it's the quality.

I like the feel of a metal unit and the control is easy to manage. Water temp is not a problem as room temp is fine. Our 2nd floor bathroom has a long run thru the house so it's close to 70°. I would never be without one anymore. Nice to be able to chase skid's as well.

If you have a light switch in your toilet room you can easily add an outlet. When I lived in Texas, the toilet was in a little room by itself with a switched light. I tapped into the switch and dropped power straight down the wall into an outlet.

I saw this, but a little too pricey for our needs as do not need the fancy open/close nor light show feature.

Do like the Toto Washlet mentioned above for $350.

We've got the Luxe Bidet Neo 185. This company has outstanding customer service. Our previous Neo 185 crapped out (see what I did there?) after two years. When I notified the company just as an FYI (it was out of warranty a couple of months), they couldn't have been more apologetic and volunteered to send us a new one along with an assortment of bathroom products (sprays, etc.) to make up for our inconvenience. You can order directly or via Amazon.

I've been in a bunch of hotels in east Asia with these toilet seat Bidet things and never tried one.

Never wanted to mess with 240V and water when I'm in a position I would not like to be found dead in.

Non heated cold water bidets have their place. And yes the lack of a warm seat, warm water, and air drying can be a non-starter for some, but such units can be gotten used to.

Like StorminNormin, we have had a pair of Brondell units (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075MMHQX7/ ) installed in 2 of our 3 bathrooms since 2018. The use of a bidet was motivated by side effects of speciality prescriptions we're still on. Major major improvement over TP that can become abrasively irritating with frequent use no matter how soft the paper is. Eek

If we had convenient outlet access we would consider more "upscale" units. And no, DIY is not an option and frankly finding contractors / electricians for such small jobs is all but impossible, so....

The cold water on mine is not a problem... even though in thinking about it there is an easy solution which would be either have a long coil of water line running to the whisper so that it is room temperature or even put an electric water unit on it... there are some that keep the water hot or warm that is in the unit and then it starts to heat as you use it.

But I do have to say my 'constitutional moment' tomorrow might be interesting in that it is supposed to be 8 degrees here and that means the water in the pipes under the house might be a tad cooler than normal... I'll report back later.
