My money is on the Great Horned Owl.

Those are MAGNIFICENT creatures.

When papa owl comes dragging home after dawn, the early birds let him know he ain't welcome. I saw one on my driveway early one morning. It was trying to get a drink of water from the sprinkler runoff. You know how dehydrated one gets from a long night of chasing rats. The early birds were raising cain, diving and squawking at him. The owl really looked funny trying to walk on the concrete. It had its talons curled and was trying to walk on the back of the talons without stabbing its palm. Like walking on nails. Literally.
