As many know the wiring in my cabin was a wreck!

I have been searching for 2 years trying to find someone to do the work which has been nearly an impossible chore. I had been devising a plan to kidnap our beloved member Skins to get this done. but thankfully it did not come to that. My good buddy had a buddy that works as an electrician for a big commercial company by day and does residential at night and on weekends trying to build a customer base to do residential full time on his own. So he is a master electrician insured, bonded, certified, all that good stuff.

He agreed to get a crew together and head down for a weekend. Where they can pull thru the wall are but most places they can’t so they are using these track kind of things. Looks pretty good all things considered.

The original wiring looks legit. I don’t know why you would change it.

Seriously though, glad you found someone to do the job.

Glad you found someone to do it right, that old stuff looked downright scary! Make sure you enjoy it down the road, life's too short!

The "track things" are called wire mold, and are perfectly acceptable method as long as the wire is not pressed against sharp edges of the cuts.

Glad you're getting it done. The existing setup was kind of scary.

Read the title of this post and I was immediately happy that you only spend 2 years searching for your cabin. After that experience getting the place rewired sounds like icing on the cake.

That panel with the face of looks like it was invaded by a ball of juvenile garter snakes. The new stuff looks good and you'll no doubt enjoy your time there more with it being ship-shape.

It was 2 years search for an electrician to do the job. The cabin is in a pretty rural area and getting anyone to do anything is nearly impossible.
My great grandfather started building the house (we now call it a cabin) in 1925. I have been going down since 1987 when I was born so no searching needed thankfully.
Once all the electric is done I’ll hook up the new tankless water heaters, finish up some painting.
The old tank style water heater is going to have to be cut into pieces to get out of the cabinet.
I thought a reciprocating saw would do the job but I was mistaken.
Will take a cutting wheel next time and hope that will do it.

Looks significantly safer, why not take out the cabinet the WH is in, then rebuild the cabinet vs going through the effort to cut up the old WH...

Because it is a brand new cabinet and top that was just put in.
The person that put it in was supposed to put the portion above the water tank on a hinge so the tank connections would be accessible from the top and the tank could be removed. Unfortunately he did not do that and I really don’t want to rip out the entire counter but looking like I may have to.
