There are numerous layouts available for that size bathroom. For a 36" shower, if you place the shower along the 6 ft wall, that works best. You get a full 3x6 shower. If you put it along the long wall, you run into a clearance problem. I solved this by putting a 45 angle on the end of the shower on the long wall. It gives clearance for the vanity and toilet. If you need to run the shower on the long wall. Another easy fix is to use a 32" wide shower. I just remodeled two bathrooms that size.

A toilet requires a minimum of 30” side to side clearance from the finished walls per code so if you are framing it leave 31” to compensate for 1/2” drywall on both sides. ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina

Just for clarification for us lay people, that 30” is 15” from the center of the toilet to each side and not 30” from the side of the toilet to the wall.

Thanks guys. It will be a fiberglass square shower. Not a custom built tile shower. Possibly have a 10'x30' area in the back of the shop for this bathroom, a bedroom and kitchen area. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Ever been on a cruise ship? Even nice luxury cabins have full bathrooms with barely more than half the square footage of your 6x8. With thoughtful planning you can have lots of storage, too, and it won't feel crowded at all.

36”x36” angle corner shower at Home Depot: Link. HD shows similar unit for half that price as well. Or You can get a shower pan with a curve instead of an angle cheap along with a matching curved shower rod and a shower curtain. Depending on the layout, a pocket door can save space. Besides, the point was if a functional bathroom can be had in a 5.5’x6’ space, then yes you can fit a bathroom in a 6’x8’ space. Our master bath in FL is maybe 5’x10’ and has two sinks. My wife agrees we don’t want or need a big bathroom. We’d rather have more closet space.

I view bathrooms as work spaces, you go in there to get something done . Just like kitchens, they are rooms for purposeful use. So I say 8'x16' should be the minimum. Counter tops should be 30" deep by 40" wide. With small kitchen sized sinks. The cupboard should have a roller slide shelf for easy access to stuff stored there. There should be a 20"x24" closet with five shelves for storage. Hand grab rails should be mandatory with the appropriate mounting back boards. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency.
