Those were the good old days!! I have a 2000 Silverado that has been great. Minus rust but handled all that.

I picked up a CPO 2017 LS about 2 1/2 years with ~68K miles at the time which now has ~116K miles on it.

I will ask my mechanic to take a look at those next time I am in for an oil change.

I have a 2015 Yukon that has a clunk at times... sounds like passenger rear. OP can you describe exactly what the problem was and what you replaced?

Are those the sway bar links?

The answer is always "cost".

It's simply a spacer/sleeve, protecting the metal rod, although it's clear that water has gotten inside but probably more so for alignment and height adjustment. when you tighten it down it sets the limit on how far you compress everything.

I would consider changing the end links from OEM to Moog Problem Solver sway bar end links poly bushings and anodized center spacers.

Moog K700538 Problem Solver Sway Bar Links (2). $13.99 per box. 1 link per box.

Moog K200221 Problem Solver Stabilizer Bar Bushing Kit (1). $8.99 per box. 2 bushings per box.

We bought ours CPO 4.5 years ago with 55k. Wheels and tires were brand new. The guy traded the Suburban in on a newer Tahoe and liked the wheels on the Suburban better so they swapped and put the factory new Tahoe wheels and tires on the Suburban.

Yes, front sway bar end links. The clunk was very intermittent and mainly came when the body was flexing as a whole from like making a mild turn up or down a hill, not when a single wheel would hit a pot hole, or both wheels hit a speed bump simultaneously.
The clunk was clearly on the drivers side (that was the broken one) but it seemed to come more from under the drivers seat area. I was beginning to think a body mount was bad. But I guess it just radiated down the frame.

It’s a super easy job. If the nut is seized from rust just take a reciprocating saw and cut the link toward the top and it will just pop out.

Rear and links are slightly different but probably a touch easier to install

I’d buy the Detroit Axle End link kit if I were doing it again. Could not find any US made links at the time I used Delco which were made in Mexico. I am going to replace the rears now that we are having this conversation.

Your shocks might be bad if you have not changed those.
I have had to replace both front coil overs and both rear air shocks.
Did not really have a clunk the ride was just very harsh and the shocks were wet from leaking fluid.

Ah, my front sway bar links were replaced about 18 months ago. Looks like I may need to do the rears now.

We looked & looked for a Suburban LTZ/Yukon XL when we were replacing our Flex.
For what we wanted to spend, they were all near/over 100k miles, and mostly black.

I prefer the front end on the Yukon XL to the 'Burban.

Our 2018 Expedition Max had about 36k on it for the same budget.
No complaints on it so far, at a bit over 50k now.

We were in the same boat. We had a MINT 2012 Limited Highlander that was fully loaded and an outstanding vehicle.
But we had just had our 3rd kid all 3 were in full car seats with the oldest being able to buckle his 50% of the time. He had to climb in the hatch to get to his seat in the 3rd row.
I looked and looked for a Suburban or Yukon XL at a decent price without a bazillion miles. Everything within 150 miles was Black, Snow White, or Silver. Wife wanted the dark grey metallic, the metallic maroon/merlot, or the Pearl white.
Finally found a Silver with Black Exterior Yukon XL Denali that checked all the boxes but color. Took the Highlander for a $150 full interior exterior clean up.
Called the dealer and set up a time to check it out. We arrive and the salesman can’t locate it. The owner was good friends with someone who owned a bunch of Zaxby’s and once a month they would travel the state to stop in to each location. The owner let that person take any car they wanted for the trip. Well they took the Denali. Was pretty pissed but could wait a couple days. The gave me the Auto check and I asked for the Carfax they said they never do the Carfax only AutoCheck because they are always identical. Nonsense, they are both helpful but never the full story.
I was able to get ahold of the Carfax from a buddy and it had been in 3 collisions with damage to all 4 sides of the truck.
So that ended that idea. I was pissed and had super clean Highlander to get rid of. Got up early the next morning to scour the interwebs. I dad not checked the actual Chevrolet website prior to for some reason. I decided to that morning and in distance away I moved the distance out a little more and found that Suburban at a price I was willing to pay as advertised.
Already had a CarMax quote for them to buy the Highlander at a price I thought was reasonable. So I told my wife I was off to drive 3.5 hours one way as I told the guy I was coming and I would be furious if it was gone when I got there.
Wife said what if they don’t offer you enough for the Highlander. I said I’ll buy it outright and rent a U-Haul trailer and drive it straight the CarMax.

We worked out a good deal for what turned out to be a piece of crap!!!

My for brother-in-law purchased a new Suburban in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s, and it felt weird driving over bumps. He took it to the dealer at least twice, and they said there was nothing wrong.

He took it to his mechanic buddy, who ran it up the lift. Shortly thereafter, the buddy found the culprit - one of the shocks was only bolted on one end. Buddy attached it, and it rode better after that.

I’ve got the same issue on my 2013 Silverado though mine is more of a clank than a clunk. Really stupid design. It seems fairly superficial so I’ve been ignoring it.

Someone please let me know if I’m going to die.

You're probably not going to die, but it'll corner better and ride quieter if you fix them. It's a super easy and inexpensive repair that you can do yourself with basic hand tools.
