I've had two Tundras and would buy a third.

I looked at both and bought the Tundra. The Tundra will be more reliable in the long run (and looks better in my opinion). Just make sure you get the 38 gallon tank, that is the only thing I wish was different on mine.

Tundra without a second blink. One Million Miles It's not the newest, nor does it have all the bells and whistles. But, it does have a reliable powertrain without the stop start and hybrid and cylinder deactivation of so many of the domestic brands. It does have serviceability built into the engineering. The 5.7L dohc V8 is a highly reliable engine. MPG is not of my first concern with a pick up, long term reliability and serviceability is what matters most to me. The new nissan titan seems rather half baked from an engineering and reliability stand point. I see it as being dead after this generation's lifecycle. _________________________ An unarmed man can only flee from evil and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it. - Col Jeff Cooper NRA Life Member Long Live the Super Thirty-Eight

Nissan all the say, safer and more reliable. i have them really protective, i used a Nissan SUV in the past and the sit belt, airbags etc were timely and working like it should. with toyota, you never know.

Tundra any day. The Titan has consistently struggled with low reliability ratings since it was first introduced.

Haha yaaa, wut? Pretty sure he's PUI. I guess I'm partial to Toyota so I'd go Tundra. I'm most interested in long term reliable vehicles, which Toyota definitely is. Nissan is probably pretty good long term, but thought I had read the newer Nissans in general aren't as solid, but who knows. ...Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, was just a freight train coming your way...

Wandering, but not lost...I think |
If you’re not in a huge rush, wait for the 2020/2021 redesign of the Tundra and compare it then to the Titan. At least by then, the newly redesigned Titan will have some semblance of a reliability record to factor in. If you’re looking to buy right away, I wouldn’t trust the Titan yet, and the Tundra is long in the tooth...which is why I bought a lease-return 2016 F-150 this summer.

I have not yet begun to procrastinate |
I've only had one, (a 2003 gen1 approaching 200k) and would buy another (a gen2) in a heartbeat. Reliable is an understatement with a Toyota. With the Nissans I've owned, not so much. I wish Toyota had addressed the MPG but after hearing my brother's repair bills on his 2010 GMC, that mileage has MORE than paid for the headaches he's had. 3 catalytic converters, a new engine, front suspension repairs and now his check engine light is on...exhaust system again! -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

For whatever reason, the stock fuel tank is surprisingly small. If I was towing, I would be pulling over every 3 hrs to refuel that 22gal tank.

The base fuel tank is 26.4 gallons, not 22. ——————————————— The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Psalm 14:1

Titan XD owner here. I bought my 2017 model in late 2017 when Nissan's incentives knocked the price of the truck from about $52k to 36k. I had read some horror stories about the diesel Titans, but the reports about the gas truck were really positive. My gas titan has been 100% reliable since day one - currently have about 18000miles on the truck. When I was shopping, Toyota was not on my radar because of pricing. I was down to the Titan XD and GMC Sierra. The reasons I went with the Titan XD over a GM product were: Price - my truck was about $6000 cheaper than a comparable GMC Warranty - 5 year 100k bumper to bumper. I doubt I will need it, but it eases that concern. I plan on driving this truck for 10+ years. Configuration - full crew cab with 6.5 ft bed - nearly impossible to find this combo from another maker. 4wd- mine also has an electronic rear locking differential, which is handy when you need it. Feel - some may have different preferences, but I want a truck for doing truck things, whether it be hauling a load of dirt, pulling a trailer, helping a friend move stuff, you get the idea. I want my truck to feel competent to do those things. The XD is a big solid beast with really good brakes and a stiff frame. It feels really solid with a load in the bed or pulling a trailer. The GM and Ford I drove did not feel as confidence-inspiring. They both felt much more car-like. My only complains about the Nissan are the infotainment system is sometimes laggy on startup and the relatively small gas tank - 35+ gallon tank would have been preferable.

Tundra hands down. If there is a problem it make sure you get a color you like as they last forever. That and there navigation system sucks but with smart phones its not a problem.

The answer to which truck question is always Toyota. Your welcome. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." I’ve checked both out and bought the tundra. The titan wasn’t even in the same league. ______________________________ DONT TREAD ON ME

Pretty hard to argue with Tundra's proven platform, excellent resale value and reputation. Sure, they could be more fuel efficient. The complaints of an outdated exterior... I don't see it and like the look of the latest body style. The "infotainment" center is said to be antiquated, not seeing that either. For my needs, it does just fine. When the time comes for a new one, I hope Toyota hasn't changed it too much.

I've had Toyota trucks for the last twenty two years: two Tacomas and my current '16 Tundra. My girlfriend has an '06 Tundra that's served her faithfully to this day. We love our Tundras!
