StorminNorminWhat are we getting our wives for Xmas?
I don’t make the money I used to so we have really scaled down on gifts. I am getting her a robe she said she wanted, but after seeing everything everyone is getting their wives I feel inferior. She mentioned she would like to get an Apple Watch so I may look into trying to get her one as a surprise.

My wife goes through lotions and creams like popcorn. There might still be time to get her some of these Inis lotions, creams, sprays from Ireland (through Amazon). I really think a lot of women like this kind of thing and these are really nice.
Inis lotions, etc

Two comments for you.
1. Don't feel inferior because of what others have the ability to buy. It's a loosing battle and not physically or financially healthy.
2. I personally would be very wary of buying creams, lotions, potions, etc for my wife. The women I know are verrrrry particular about the personal products that they use and in my estimation, what you choose would have a very slim chance of being what she would choose.

That may be the case in your house, but it would be wrong to make a general statement about all women.

We never spend more than $100 on each other so this year is a rare one for me buying two handguns and having them Cerakoted. We actually prefer giving small gifts and doing some donating. Our tradition is ordering food to be delivered and giving a large tip. Don't feel bad about little gifts, Christmas is way too commercialized and we are fooled into buying everyone gifts to make them happy.

Please don't! You only have one person to impress and trust me none of them are on this forum and it can be done with no money. I use to do it, like I said upthread I made 2 silver wedding bands for our wedding rings because that's what I could afford. And silver was under $8 an ounce and that still took a lot out of me between paying for the silver, the flux, the silver solder and a torch. Here's 2 thoughts to get you started but the trick is to think hard on what makes her happy.
1st) Sit her down and quietly reiterate what you said here. Your fears, hopes, dreams. Of course you want to focus on saying it to her so that she will be receptive, so along the lines of "I want to give you the world but I only have enough for 1 coors light..." (if that's her beer) or whatever works for her. Point is, focus it on her. Start listening to what she says and reflect on it.
2nd) How about a personal services coupon book? You have a coupon for each month. Maybe foot rub is January, February is Backrub, March is clean (insert something she does but really dislikes here), April candelit dinner (you cook and clean of course), May - beach picnic on through the year. Maybe you offer to mix and match. When feb comes and she pulls out the backrub coupon, maybe give her your best, and ask, "Mamm, would you like to keep the coupon and use it later in the month...."etc
Good luck man, and don't feel inferior to anyone here.

AeteoclesWe scaled back on Christmas because getting a bunch of pricey gifts for each other misses the point. It's also an escalating drain on both emotional and financial resources.
Exchange something small that would have slipped her mind to buy herself, and just soak in the Christmas cheer.
