My boys are age 3.5 and 6, and I thought it would be good to have them brush their teeth with electric toothbrushes, it would make it fun for them and help do a better job of brushing too.

I am trying to look up reviews, and most of them aren’t good. Does anyone here have kids on the younger side that use electric toothbrushes?

Thanks!

You don't need expensive electric toothbrushes.

I switched to battery powered toothbrushes years ago, my local grocery store sells them for under $10 ea. My dentist was pushing me to buy so and so brand, probably in the $100 range.

My grocery store toothbrushes do just fine, 2 AA batteries last months.

We used them to establish a consistent habits. Even used the ones that had blinking lights timers. That helped. We also used an Oral B adult electric brush as my oldest son was using too much pressure. That model would light up when too much pressure was used. The cheap ones don't last long and should not be used for more that a 2-3 months and tossed. I would keep an eye on the bristles. Smushed - too much pressure, frayed - time to toss. At that age any novelty that makes it fun is ok. Big Grin We would even let them pick out new ones. A $7 disposable tooth brush is a lot cheaper than cavity. Even at that age cavities are expensive.

This. You don't need pricey ones.

Walmart typically has cartoon, Disney, Marvel, etc. character electric toothbrushes too. Though in the era of The Rona, who knows what they might have in stock.

I agree with the others on the $10 electric brushes. Everyone used the same brushes (oral B) before they were made electric. I have been using them so long that it feels very weird when you forget to click it on.

By the way pick one up for your gun cleaning kit they work fabulous for that as well.

I wouldn't spend $100+ on a Sonicare for a kid that age, even though I recommend them for teens. It will get dropped and broken just like the $10 ones, but hurt 10x as much.

Kids that age (especially the younger one) need you to "check" when they are done. For the most part, they will brush the occlusal surfaces of their lower molars and the facial surfaces on their non-dominant side while missing the rest. You really need to get in there and do some finishing work when they are done.

We all use Sonicare. Mid-level. Worth every penny, our 6 month cleanings taken less than 10 minutes due to lack of buildup.

Get the brush heads in an 8/9 pack dealo and it's really not expensive for a quality cleaning.

We got Oral B in the discount rack at Sam's club for around $35.00 for 2 They use AA batteries. Turns out they were returned by somebody because one of them was hard to close after you put the batteries in. After using them for a year or so it got really easy and never was too hard even in the beginning.

My teeth cleaning runs around 15 minutes and so does Mrs. Flash's.

I give you the Oral-B Vitality FlossAction Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush, powered by Braun.

https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0...ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

These were highly recommended by our Dentist. Of course I'm NOT an early adopter, so my wife purchased one for herself and my 16YO son. It has a two minute timer, is very well constructed, and a bargain at $19.99!

Not long after they had been using their new toothbrushes, I got positive feedback from both, including my 16YO who's now an InvisAlign Ortho patient, and using it 4-5 times a day! Their reviews were universally positive and I decided to further evaluate/inspect them on my own. I was impressed enough to purchase one for myself, but went for upgrade to the PRO model: The Oral-B Pro 500 w/ Automatic Timer and Precision Clean Brush Head.

https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0...ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

At $29.99 the PRO 500 has two minute time w/ pulse notifications at 30 second intervals, which keeps the time brushing in each quadrant of the mouth more consistent. I actually divide my mouth into six quadrants (the timer keeps timing after the std two minute interval), and do the upper & lower front teeth front as separate 'quadrants'. Wink

The one thing I noticed, which completely sold me was that the first time I used it, my mouth/teeth felt REALLY Clean, as in cleaner than after any brushing I had done in years! There's also a minor vibration component to the brushing and after three months of use, I feel the Oral-B really contributes to gum health as well.

Oral-B also offers multiple designs of their brush heads, so there's a right brush for every user. These aren't necessarily designed for younger kids, but they don't need to be, and the brush heads are quite small, so they're definitely appropriately sized for their smaller mouths/teeth.

Like I said, I was sold the first time I used it, and I believe you will be too. Cool

My kids are 4 and 6 and use Philips Sonicare brushes that hook up to an app on our iPad. They each get a critter that gets its teeth brushed when they do. They earn rewards and other stuff. The nice thing is they get a good visual of the inside of their critter’s mouth during brushing; it shows them how to brush and makes sure they take the time.

I buy the cheapo Colgate or Oral B ones that just vibrate for the kids. No timers or anything like that. They are like $7 at Walmart but if you don't care which character is on them Big Lots has them for under $5 usually.

We had a Sonicare for years that finally decided to call it a day.
So my Wife got me a Quip for Christmas and I like it a lot.
May not be a bad choice using their kids line. And have been thinking of getting them for the boys.
