The new house we just moved into had all the doors and windows pre-wired for a hardwired alarm system. I've never had an alarm system company before but never heard or read much good about them so I didn't plan on contracting with anyone.

I had a Ring alarm I brought with me along with a handful of door/window sensors. Ring sells a retrofit kit that uses your existing wired contact switches and bridges it into it's wireless system. For 80 bucks and 20 minutes wiring time you can use your existing wired switches along with any Ring wireless sensors. I put Ring wireless sensors on both garage doors and a water sensor under the kitchen sink.

The system is very easy to use, you can self monitor without a subscription if you want or you can add professional monitoring for 10 bucks a month. Arm and disarm with the app, the included keypad, and Alexa. From what I understand there are also ways to integrate it with Google Home and Apple Homekit.

I'm running Ring front door camera and just bought 6 more cameras on sale to replace the Blink system that isn't very good.

The retrofit to connect to exiting sensors sounds like a good option vs having an alarm company come in and want to change it all for a long term contract

Its on sale too

A benefit to the monitored Ring Alarm system is an insurance discount. The discount should offset the price of monitoring. Monitoring will dispatch police , fire or EMT's if the keypad button is pressed or the alarm trips.
Adding an Alexa Hub allows you to have an instant view of your Ring cameras, any Alexa devices and smart plugs.
If you have the Ring Alarm--make sure you buy the Z wave Smoke Detector. The "Ring Smoke detector" will only hear your existing smoke detector , it does NOT detect smoke.
