These types of scams are how democrats have access to what seems like an unlimited flow of money.
And why they express such outrage at the possibility of the pipeline being turned off. It has nothing to do with ideology, fairness, DEI, or empathy. It is about the money and the power that it brings.

Don't kid yourselves, I don't see every R standing up to stop it, and they helped vote in more spending. It's systemic in DC, every single one should be removed and replaced....

I am quite disappointed in congressional Republicans and also a bit at Trump for not pushing for fiscal responsibility.
I think for Trump there are 2 calculations at play. One is he has a plan for the debt which he is quietly executing. Get short term interest rates low and allow moderate inflation, which then lets the debt get deleveraged. If it works it saves us from sudden catastrophe, at the cost of the people suffering prolonged economic stagflation. He may be working towards a cryptocurrency replacement of the dollar.
Secondly, cutting anything in the budget will cost votes in November. The political reality is it will be nearly impossible to pass significant cuts now, so don't give the dems any ammunition. Then after the mid-terms, push hard for serious budget reforms.
I remain trusting of Trump, but not of most R congressmen.

Fly-Sig: I agree. Recognizing that many Republicans are complicit is not negative or a defeatist mindset. You have to identify the enemy, and sometimes it's within. But, still, your 80% ally doesn't have to be seen as your 20% enemy. It's a balancing act.

I do hope you understood me the other day.
When you run a white flag up the pole, I'm going to be right here to tear it down. It matters not how justified you feel in flying the flag of surrender. I'll not have it in this forum.

Can’t admit defeat when we’re going in the right direction. Hyper focusing on one battle that may not be going our way isn’t gonna help.
Been a lot of good progress the past 12 months.
I’m guilty of it too, but we’re moving in the right direction, even if it’s against the current sometimes.

And this is what many do not understand- Trump has far more to deal with than just Minnesota, although many in their armchairs will focus on this intently. The fraud and ICE issues are a fraction of his daily agenda. Also, it has only been one year, and so far it has been great, excellent especially compared to 2021-2024 and the insane opposition comprised of Democrats and RINOs, judges, rioters, mainstream media, etc.

I have to agree oddball, one day there is going to be a bestseller, more likely a pile of bestsellers written on the multi dimensional chess that Trump employs to take out the trash. I have doubts as well at times but there always seems to be another win around the corner. I do my best to appreciate the wins.

Ilhan Omar Catches a Big Break – Republican Oversight Committee Drops Financial Review, Hands off to Ethics
Representative Ilhan Omar is one of the most sanctimonious corrupt Democrats in congress, and she’s loud and proud about it because she understands how to engage in financial fraud safely. Just do what everyone else is doing but do it bigger, that way there’s no way her peers can approach it.
Someone in DC gave House Oversight Chairman James Comer the familiar tap on the shoulder and told him they don’t investigate their own Uniparty tribe. So, Comer drops his planned review of Omar’s corruption and shifts it to the ethics team.

defeatist mindsets are no better.
Not defeatist, just pointing out the hypocrisy of thinking only one side of the political spectrum is the problem, and to really clean it up needs a full house cleaning, some arrests and incarceration.

Agreed! I am frequently annoyed at both sides blaming or crediting a President for federal spending and the downstream economic impacts. e.g. Dems gloating that the last balanced budget was under Bill Clinton. Or talking about inflation being better or worse, or interest rates being up or down, or unemployment being better or worse, under a particular President. Many of the effects don't show up for several years.
All spending starts in the House. It must be agreed to by the Senate. Only then does the President sign it. Inflation and interest rates are tied to this spending and to the actions of the Federal Reserve. The President has some influence but ultimately he has to sign what comes from Congress. Trump has had success where he has authority, meaning foreign trade, but he has zero authority over Congressional spending.
The number of selfless Congressmen is tiny if even above zero, on both sides.
Other than term limits idk how to reel in Congress. I believe it will take hitting economic rock bottom before voters wake up.

This is the big bold headline in the New York Post.
Ok you are using definitely and allegedly in the same sentence so it's basically a contradiction. Link to full article The article continues with more waffling using phrases like "we actually think" and more use of the word allegedly. So they start to walk back from the headline which is common practice. But here is what infuriates me. This is supposedly a direct quote from Vance.
quote:
Vance added that he’s been discussing legal remedies with White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, explaining that questions have been raised: “How do you go after her? How do you investigate her? How do you actually build the case to actually get some justice for the American people?”
Fucking seriously? You can bring the weight of the entire investigative powers of the United States Government to bear on this and you don't have the first clue on how to begin an investigation into her? Build a case? Get justice for the American people? Here's a clue JD, investigative journalist have done most of the heavy lifting for you! They have produced the legal marriage documents, spoke to witnesses, provided a wealth of evidence already on this.
Go talk to Liz Collins at Alpha News in Minneapolis. Yeah she's just a blonde dumb chick reporter but she's got the How To investigate Dummies for Dummies book all ready written for you! Damn this shit is infuriating!

Balls in your court JD and Trump admin. This is your opportunity to apply some of that drain the swamp and accountability that you campaigned so hard on and that I voted for, now lets have some!
And to sweeten the deal...
quote:
In exchange for recognition, the Republic of Somaliland — which argues that historically and politically its independence from Somalia is legitimate — will give the USA a military base, access to a strategic port, and also access to critical minerals. And let’s be honest, that’s a pretty good deal that secures the United States a foothold in the Horn of Africa with a blow to Somalia, which has been sucking up a lot of U.S. taxpayer money through Somali “migrant” fraud.
On top of all that, Somaliland is willing to help bring justice to one of the most infamous and destructive representatives in Congress.
Israel already recognizes Somaliland as being an independent country from Somalia given this opportunity I don't know why we have not already accepted this offer.
